One of the main uses for genetic engineering tech will be to identify and repair congenital defects. I know there is a lot of money being invested in research to identify the genetic components of autism so it can be identified quickly, easily, and if necessary, in the womb. Granted, even if you could tell your baby was going to be autistic, all you could really do at this stage is read up on the ocndition or get an abortion.
Whether or not this will lead to perfect 'test-tube babies' a la Gattaca is debatable.
There's also the hypospray. Instead of one big needle, thousands of micro-needles on what feels like a smooth plate, and a pressurized air system for really rapid injection, thus taking all the pain, discomfort, and fear out of injections. I know it's not a huge priority for the medical community, but I've been wishing my doctor had one of those since I first saw Star Trek.

Hypospray won't work if you want to inject something intravenously or intramuscularly, which is why those needles go where they're going.

Yeah but if you have nano-tech carrier molecules that can direct the hypospray injected medicine to where it needs to go (necessitating quite scifi style nanobots) it's not much of an issue anymore. Sure, it's a lot of technology to get around having to stick a long needle inside someone, but considering the pain of a spinal tap or bone marrow extraction, I'd say it's worth it. Although for a sufficiently advanced civilization you'd think they'd have med tech that invalidates the needs for those kinds of procedures.
