A Star Wars fan has built a wearable Stormtrooper helmet out of an unusual material – Adidas sneakers.
The anonymous Los Angeles graffiti artist known as “Freehand Profit” built the mask for the Star Wars Remix project - a website that “celebrates the creativity of Star Wars fans who can literally remix the world around them into the Star Wars universe we all know and love.”
So far, the website has displayed artworks ranging from a painting of C3PO made entirely of glitter to a twist tie Tie-Fighter and a Jabba the Hutt puppet made out of minced meat.
Freehand has been making a different mask every day for a year, an endeavour he calls the MASK365 project.
It’s not the first one he has made out of sneakers, but Freehand says the Stormtrooper helmet was the first piece that required more than one pair of shoes to create.
“It gave me hell,” Freehand wrote on his website. “I pushed through and couldn’t be happier with the result.”
The Stormtrooper mask is available for auction on eBay.
The helmet has racked up 10 bids since it went on sale on Tuesday, and so far its price has reached US$182 ($177.60).

But wouldn't they smell like feet??
BTW: If the price stays around there, that's pretty good. Generally, fan made costume helmets (often of screen accurate quality) go for around $225 or above.

Prop Star Wars helmet made out of sneakers... is that something Australia really considers 'technology'. Explains a lot.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.

Probably more comfortable than an actual stormtrooper helmet.

I'm now imagining that the Imperial Soccer team all wear these helmets. So like normal soccer player outfit and then this sneaker helmet.

They're (surprisingly) fairly comfy to wear, it's the ab/kidney section and codpiece that get restrictive.LadyLazor wrote:Probably more comfortable than an actual stormtrooper helmet.
