Ughhh...let me guess, earthquake shot?

SCSI inherently unstable maybe? I've heard a lot of weird things about SCSI.

Not to mention the fact that a roll of decent film can cost thousands, while a decent-length DVCPRO tape can go for under fifty bucks...

Oh gee Ando, I'm sorry. I forgot I had to consult you before I decided to start discussing an interest of both me and Phong in the Off-Topic forum.

Should have made more room for you and your political ranting.

I'll delete this thread, just for you.

I'm just pointing out that if this was to be a closed conversation between Phong and you there are better mediums.

There was a reason I let this thread continue, and that was to let other A/V-heads jump in if they wanted to. Including, but not limited to, HemlockGrey, DW and Durandal.

Not...quite an earthquake, but not smooth.

It's not, the drives tend to be much more robust than IDE drives. It's strange, IBM's IDE drives had a bad spate, but their SCSI drives are usually solid.

Indeed. That, and you have to digitize the film...

Still bad enough. Ugh.

There's still a lot of SCSI voodoo that goes on, right? I was reading some anecdotes about it on the Jargon File.

Yeah, but you have to develop it first and deal with huge reels...
