Today at 8:35 PM...I get a phone call telling me, my cat, Sol has suffered terminal kidney failure and will die in two hours.

I am told to either put her to sleep of let her die in the next 5 hours

Some bloody fucking choice....

So right now, I have decided to basically bawl my head out...or well nothing I'm bawling as is.

She does have a sister which I also adopted.

Her name is Luna

She had a good 2 1/2 years...and will be missed.

Right now, I'm going back to bawling...good night.

*hugs Ghost Rider* Sorry to hear that, dear. She's had a full life since she's been with you. It's sad when things like this happen to our pets.

Cat lovers, bow your heads in a moment of silence for the deceased pet...

It's hard coping with the death of a pet, especially one close to you. I haven't been through the experience of seeing one of my cats die, but I probably will soon, and I would miss them.

I know how you feel. My cat Daffy was put to sleep a few weeks before Thanksgiving. She had been suffering from a lot of stuff, and really sick by this point, and it would have been crueler to keep her alive.

Some people don't understand grief over the loss of a pet. It's just horrible. I remember when I left for school one day, my mom was taking her cat Lucy to the vet for a routine check-up. I came back and found out that she had to be put to sleep because she had massive kidney problems that were causing her bladder to go out of control. Specifically, she had extremely small kidneys. Just remembering it is choking me up some. I remember the night before she came into my room and slept on the bed for a while and let me pet her. It was as if she knew that she wasn't going to be seeing me again; then again they say that animals always know when it's their time to die. I loved her so much.

Pets are great companions to have. They offer what is essentially unconditional love and comfort any time, provided you just clean up after them every once in a while.

Sweetie, that is simply awful. Both my cats are old (17 and 15) and I know their time is coming soon, and I just can't stand the thought... *hugs* I'm truly sorry.

Maybe I'm a callous bastard, but I've seen many cats come and go, living in the country, and it dosen't pain me in the least. Maybe this is because they're OUTSIDE Cats, and not these wussy declawed neutered indoor cats. I'm talking about farm cats. These fuckers are tough as nails. I've seen em survive alot of bad shit. One of em got her throat ripped open in a fight with some other animal, so we sprayed it with bactine and it ran away for a week, but when it came back, it was healed, except it was silent after that. Another Cat got run over by a semi, but it survived and kept on doing it's thing. It was a tomcat and it was a vicious SOB to the other tomcats, and after that it was worse, cause it's ribs must have been all busted up and stuff. It would rip yer hand to shreds if you tried to pick it up. I believe cats should be let alone, and if they start living around yer house, that's fine and good, but confining em to the inside of yer house dosen't let them live how they would naturally.

The same thing happened to my cat as yours with its kidneys, durandal (maybe not the exact same problem but something to do with em and she was having bladder control problems). My parents had got her when they got married. It was 14 or 15 and I was 12 or 13 and we were moving so my mother told me that she gave it to a family friend. I of course believed her because the guy did want her. I later found out that my mother had actually put her to sleep.

One of my cats had to be put to sleep a few years ago after she had a stroke. Poor thing couldn't move or see.. couldn't really do anything but wail. We had her put to sleep the next day after the vet informed us there was nothing that could be done.

It was almost worse seeing my other cat wander around the house looking for her.

Got two kittens about a year ago and Lance is still hanging around but he's having problems with IIRC an overactive pituitary gland that made him lose a ton of weight before we found out what was wrong and got him on medication.

Sorry to hear, you've had a good time with her, just do her a favor and don't let her suffer (probably too late to say this), if you love her, put her out of her suffering, at least you can be assured then that she did not suffer in her passing. I've lost a cat to cancer before, being about 6 when it happened really hurt, I still think about him from time to time. I'm facing a hard decision with my current cat, she's 15 and her back end is starting to go out, even though it's gonna hurt like nothing I've dealt with in a good many years, I will not stand by and watch her suffer for my own emotions, if I see that she's in pain and the vet says it's something that will not be repairable and she'll be in pain, I will have her put down, it's the least I can do for the years of companionship she gave me. My mom had to deal with the loss of her dog a couple years back (as near we can tell it was massive systems failure, probably heart attack or stroke from hormone therapy for the bad hips), the dog was a 13 year old English Mastiff, my mom had known she was close to the end and was dreading having to put her down, but one morning she went down there to the pen and then went running into the house screaming and crying, though even she said it was easier that she didn't have to put the dog down...

It's VERY hard to lose a pet, just don't forget the years Sol gave you.

Growing up, my cat was my best friend. I feel for you, ghost. My cat was about 20 when she died and it broke my heart.

When this ordeal is through, I would suggest going to pound to get another one. Many homeless cats need a family. :) That's my cat in the avatar.
