GROSSE POINTE PARK, Mich. (AP) -- Federal agents have arrested a man they say had a tractor-trailer deliver 3,200 pounds of marijuana to his home.
U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents arrested John Brosnan Jr. on Saturday. The 45-year-old was arraigned Sunday in U.S. District Court on charges of possession with intent to deliver marijuana and conspiracy.
He is free on a $50,000 unsecured bond and has a preliminary examination set for March 24.
Rose Brosnan told the Detroit Free Press on Monday that her husband was not home, and she declined comment on the case.
A criminal complaint gave this account:
DEA agents received a tip that a lot of marijuana was being delivered to Michigan. Agents intercepted about 3,500 pounds of marijuana, which was stored in 40 cardboard boxes inside a tractor-trailer.
They arrested the driver, who agreed to cooperate with authorities and deliver the marijuana as planned. The driver said he had made two previous deliveries to Brosnan's home in the affluent Detroit suburb of Grosse Pointe Park and was supposed to deliver the drugs there Saturday.
The driver said 29 boxes were to go to Brosnan's house, and the remaining 11 were to be delivered in Pennsylvania. Brosnan was supposed to give delivery information to the driver.
A DEA agent parked the tractor-trailer next to Brosnan's home and started handing the boxes to Brosnan, who was arrested when he took possession.

If I had my way, weed would be delivered in trucks to supermarkets and liquor stores. That being said, there are less conspicuous ways to have it delivered to your house.

A ton and a half of pot? That's like smoking Starr Jones!
I'm sure the confiscated weed will go ot other potheads, so they can be charged with drug posession. After all, they practically catch themselves, don't they?
"Hey, officer, I have some weed at my place. What do you say we smoke some together?"

Doesn't work in Aus. Cops don't have to tell you that they are cops.Robert Treder wrote:Let this be a lesson to you...always ask if who you're meeting is a cop.
Plus in the days of Launceston Drug Squad, this bust would have been back on the street in the hands of the LDS dealers. Ahhhh, corruption is such a beautiful thing.
