Bringing B5 and ST universe to its knee's, weapon of CHOICE
For each universe, you are given a task to bring each to its knees for the empire. One at a time of course, however the Emperor is only letting you use a few weapons, so which would you use, you can only use 1, and use it wisely at that. You can use probe droids to scout out each galaxy, in addition to the super weapons.
-Completed Second Deathstar
-Suncrusher
-Galaxy Gun
-25,000 Star Destroyers
You can only use the same option for both universes if you want. I dont think the stardestroyers would be a good choice for the Startrek universe, I wouldn't want the borg or 8472 getting their hands on any dmg'ed ships, or even worse assimilate one.
The deathstar would be nice, but can fall into a trap, suncrusher can only destroy entire systems, so you can't be picky. I think my choice for BOTH universes would be the galaxy gun. Park it 100,000 LY out of the galaxy, out in the void, and fire them in.
What do you people think?

25,000 ISD's could wipe out 25,000 worlds in less than one day. They couldn't SHATTER them, but that's unnecessary. The ability to distribute their destructive payload across such a broad range of targets makes them the most destructive force in terms of killing power per day.

This is basically a 'which scifi is the bigger technowank' thread. Well I can answer that. SW ownzoxxors with any of these ships. Hell a single ISD could probably wipe the floor with both universes.
What does the galaxy gun fire? Hyperspatial missles that cause uber explosions, or is it a really really fast 'laser?'

25,000 ISD's. The Borg and Species 8472 probably wouldn't even be able to damage them, and even if they could eventually harm the Imperials, the Empire could freely disengage.

You don't need any of those useless wastes of resources.
Vader's fleet of 5 ISDs and Executor would make very quick work of everyone in Star Trek. Except species insert numbers. Their home isn't in this dimension, so it would be impossible to destroy their homeworld. But even if they were involved, they would be only a nuissance. Their weapons had a bit of trouble penetrating Voyager's shields.
Vader's fleet would also make quick work of everyone in B5.

Babtech on the Net is the most well-thought-out collection of Babylon 5 technical documents online.
For B5, I wouldn't even need that much, just give me the Executor. I would destroy the Vorlon homeworld. That would convince everyone else to fall into line.
For ST, I would obliterate Earth with a BDZ. If there was still resistence, Vulcan would be next. After that, Qo'nos. If there was still resistance, Romulus would be next.

I would use the galaxy gun, there is absolutely no threat at all. Even if there was complete power failure for some strange reason, you are 100,000 LY or so outside the galaxy, nothing is going to get out that far. As for the others, they are close, so if they suffer a problem, there could be some trouble

You're just jealous because you have to resort to unseen mythical uber-races from a game in order to pretend that B5 has a chance.SyntaxVorlon wrote:This is basically a 'which scifi is the bigger technowank' thread. Huge missiles the size of a small starship. It can fire them across galactic ranges, and the missiles destroy a whole planet through some kind of ultra-powered NDF-style reaction. It also seems to have the ability to penetrate planetary shields, although I'm not sure how. A much different approach than the Death Star's brute-force method, although I prefer the Death Star for many reasons. Relying on a chain reaction is dangerous; if a planet could shoot down the missile as it comes out of hyperspace or build a shield which it can't punch through, then it becomes immune to the Galaxy Gun. The Death Star, on the other hand, just uses raw power and there's no countermeasure. What does the galaxy gun fire? Hyperspatial missles that cause uber explosions, or is it a really really fast 'laser?'

Except a planetary shield strong enough to withstand that level of firepower I guessDarth Wong wrote:The Death Star, on the other hand, just uses raw power and there's no countermeasure.

The Galaxy Gun is nice and the added effect of it essentially being the equivalent of a submerged SSN launching Tomahawks at unsuspecting foes is cool, but I would prefer 25,000 ISDs too since they could attack all targets required and do so quicker than the other options.
The Sun Crusher is wasteful since it takes care of entire systems that could otherwise be exploited and tech that could be assimilated.
The Death Star was a psychological weapon, to me it has little if any real strategic usefulness in this conquest unless everyone dropped their weapons as a planet was popped (doubtful).
Personally, I always like the idea of breaking down the organisations from the inside using agents, much like Special Circumstances would, I'd simply crumble their gov'ts before they knew what was going on. I mean, look at the Clark era in B5 or the quarrels between the UFP and others.

Thats just for certain segments and is largely due to fabrication.Darth Wong wrote: You're just jealous because you have to resort to unseen mythical uber-races from a game in order to pretend that B5 has a chance.
The usual tactic is that the FO's dont even need to use planets and can hide in specially constructed hidden "bases" where they can crank out many Planetkillers a day by fabricating the matter from pure energy. The SW forces wont be able to find them and destroying/BDZ'ing the planets won't affect their production. The FO's will then resort to the B5 equivalent of "warp strafing" to win (usually accompanying claims about jump point tactics or bonehead manuvers or "hyper-phasing" a planetkiller either under planetary shields or inside X Imperial superweapon and destroying it from the inside.)
Geez Mike, I would have thought you would have seen the truth by now

DS2. If even only for psycological value. Think about it....if something the size of Austrailia dropped out of hyperspace, blew up a heavily defended planet with one shot and goes back from whence it came without batting an eyelash, it would be a crushing blow for morale to say the least.

The quantity factor of 25000 ISD's is just as good as this too.Col. Crackpot wrote:DS2. If even only for psycological value. FOOM!!! I can wipe out 3 civilisations in B5 in one day with this kind of firepower, and still have a military day for the rest of the races.

Wait, is the goal total destruction or just crippling? Either way I'd take 25,000 ISD's. All options are overkill, though the eleven missile load would be limiting.
The defensive lasers on Galaxy gun missile alone could probably damage and destroy significant ships in both universes..
