I'm pretty sure caligula killed only a fraction of the people Augustus did. Atilla surpasses him, sure. But he's not a Roman, so they may not count him in.
And Augustus is definitely legendary. If they define him as a villain, it may be technically correct - sure people will not really connect the dots, but it may be technically correct.

A decision must be made in the life of every nation at the very moment when the grasp of the enemy is at its throat. Then, it seems that the only way to survive is to use the means of the enemy, to rest survival upon what is expedient, to look the other way. Well, the answer to that is 'survival as what'? A country isn't a rock. It's not an extension of one's self. It's what it stands for. It's what it stands for when standing for something is the most difficult! - Chief Judge Haywood

Re: Rome Sweet Rome
If the show was about anything except AMERICAN MILITARY in any time period except THE ROMANGS it might have a chance of being good or interesting.
As it stands it has basically a zero chance of being anything but PHOO-EY MERICA BUILDS A NATION. Just like ... in ... real... yeah.
Thanas, will your head explode in the first scene where Private Parker tells poor ignorant Romans how DEMOCRACY works and why FREEDOM solves problems?

No, as I plan to stay far away from this, pray that it gets stuck in development hell (good chance of that happening) and if I am forced to watch it I will only do so with dubious amounts of alcohol.
But yeah, dollars to dimes it will be a stupid wankfest or misrepresentation of Roman society.

Re: Rome Sweet Rome
I wonder if the Marines will tell the Romans to go smite the Afghans and Iraqis so they won't have to fight them in the future, then realize that the Romans have barbarian hordes on their hands in Central Europe, so no go right? I'm not a great expert on this part of history, so feel free to correct me.
Dude, we should MST it to hell and back and post it to YouTube.Thanas wrote:No, as I plan to stay far away from this, pray that it gets stuck in development hell (good chance of that happening) and if I am forced to watch it I will only do so with dubious amounts of alcohol.

God, I really hate the idea that the you need to write the antagonist as a "Villain". I'll probably kill myself while watching this.Zor wrote:Warner Bros. plans on making a TV show about US Marines transported to Roman times.
