The Imperial March!

Post by Vympel »

I thought I had heard the best rendition of Imperial March EVER on the Empire Strikes Back CD. Unfortunately, AOTC then came out and the Confrontation with Dooku/ Finale track had a very very cool, if short, new rendition of Imperial March, of which I am sure you are all aware (DUH!).

Which do you prefer. I still prefer the classic original but the AOTC version is a VERY close second.

Also, who thinks Episode III will be an absolute orgy of at least one new rendition of Imperial March which we will hum for the rest of our lives?

They should have an enormous fleet battle, with dozens of ISDs, combined with a massive ground battle filled with stormtroopers, overlaid with a pounding Imperial March--preferably with lots of percussion and bass.

I heard that Mcallum said that the time period they're looking at for Ep 3 is right now 3 years after AOTC. Its only very preliminary of course; I guess they'll jack it up to five-seven years. It all depends on how long the Clone Wars last I guess. Unfortunately, unless GL decides to just roll with it, the time frame is wrong for the mighty ISD :(

But yes they absolutely must have a space battle. A long one. After all, this is STAR WARS, and we have yet to see a big war in the stars. The battle in TPM didn't do anything for me. Must've been the kid actor making comments thing. One final space battle for star wars- tons of ships, tons of turbolasers, the progenitors of star destroyers (VSDs?) ... ah what a sight it would be.

BTW, is your avatar a Soviet SU-100 tank destroyer?

Master, so hard to decide between the Love Theme from AOTC and that of Empire- especially the scene where Lando/Leia/Chewie etc get to the Falcon and escape ... very very hard to decide.

John Williams really went for broke with AOTC. TPM was downright lame by comparison (and TPM had good music- except for the finale- shudder)

I agree with you, the Aotc version is right after the original one.

Since Ep III will probably be the last SW movie ever, I'm confident Lucasfilm won't let the fans downs, and will show a lot of actions.

Who doesn't want a huge big space battle in EpIII? And maybe a little line like "We've taken 10 teratons of damage! Shields at full strength" (Yeah I'm a SW debator. Sue me.)

The Imperial March in AOTC was a brilliant ending - a far menace of what is about to come...and the light smile on Palpatine's face...troops boarding ships(the shape people, the shape!)...god, Im in love with that part of the film. The original Imperial March was better than the new one, but when it comes to compare circumstances in which they were played...TESB is far behind AOTC. That scene was excellent.

The final scene in AOTC is quite literally the best one in the entire film, or a close second next to yodas whole karate stance thing, and when they ochestra played the full-blown Imperial March, why it almost brought tears to my eyes-despite this the classic one is superior.

As for EpIII, natural theyll have the space battle to end all space battles (or theyll regret it!) with hundreds of cap ships firing thousands of teratons of energy, being blown to pieces by broadside after broadside, tens of thousands of fighters in dogfights, franticly flying away from an exploding capship, VSDs, TIEs! Which Imperial March do you mean in TESB? The scene with the Star Destroyer fleet and TIEs zooming around and Vader staring out at the fleet on his bridge? If not, there are tons of other scenes in the movie where the Imperial March is played, each one a completely different variation to the other. This is what makes it so awesome. There are so many different variations of one kick-ass theme that it never gets boring or repetitive. For instance, some variations have slower and faster tempos with other themes intertwined, others are softer and others are louder, others are just horns and others are horns with strings and percussion, there are just so many different variations of the Imperial March. Then there is the "official" concert arrangement of the Imperial March that was in the ISD fleet scene, except much longer.

ive said it before. The greatest ending to Episode 3 will be Sidious walking in and taking a seat in the Jedi Council and laughing methodicly like in Jedi, and the Imperial March will be playing with full fanfare. That will make the world hum the Imperial March for the rest of their lives.

IMO Ep. III will be the most action-packed SW movie ever. The last half of the movie will probably be focusing on two-different viewpoints - vicious lightsaber duelling and intense space combat, and eventually the two will merge. IMO there's not going to be a lot of romance/dialogue/etc. , if my theory (Eps. 1-3 will scale up the action level between each movie) holds true.

But back to topic...

Regretfully, I do not have the AOTC soundtrack, so I am incapable of appreciating its glory. But the second-last scene (on Coruscant, last scene was Anakin and Padme... spare me) was probably one of the ebst I've ever seen (pun not intended).

And I think you can hear the Imperial March everytime Anakin is around Palpy...

I do know that when Anakin is freaking out about how he killed all the Tuskens, the Emperor's chant starts playing. oooh that is chilling. To whoever asked, yeah, your probably the only one who didn't like Across the Stars theme. I love it personally. Also, someone said the timing is not right for the ISD. Where'd you get that info? The EU? No offense, but take whatever books gives that out and hand it to Lucas and tell HIM that the ISD cannot be present in Ep III. Back to the topic.

The original version of the Imperial March. Don't get me wrong, the AotC version comes damn near, just for what it was. Watching the movie then it goes directly to the Acclamators rising and the March striking up. Ooooh. Can't go ooooh enough in that movie. Just the way the original hit. The view of multiple ISDs flying around, bad ass ships you know and the March starts strumming up. Then a large shadow looms and engulfs the smaller ships. The form of the SSD enters the camera and I just sit there and think 'oh shit.' Yeah. Nothing like seeing that ship when your playing the video game. hella!!!

Or howabout seeing an ISD alone in space in its full glory while the combined hum of the Imperial March and the hum of your TIE's engines whines in the background as you play TIE Fighter?

I prefer doing the Death Star trench run as the TIE Advanced X1, unleashing the power of the Force upon the Rebel scum (read: Cluster seeker missiles) in Rogue Leader.

My favorite mission was the one where you fly as Darth Vader and lead an attack on the Rebel base on Yavin IV. Not only because you get to fly the TIE X-1, but I loved the way the mission itself. They should have made more missions like that, where you lead a massive force against another massive force, invading a base with ground forces landing, and with capital ships playing an anti-starfighter and anti-ground force role. That is what I hope the Clone Wars for GC will be like.
