Well, if he doesn't answer eventually, I'll just go with which theory I like best.

Namely, Dalton's. "Wong is schizo." :D

I think Mike actually logs on both at once, at least on occasion. I remember at least one occaision where he was carrying on two discussions, one with each account.

And Darth Wong has no admin powers, although Mike uses the DW account to announce bannings (usually when he's dealt with the idiot personally) probably out of convinience

When did I say that???

Anyway, my theory is similar to Durandal's.

In the IRC. Or maybe it was someone else. Not too sure now, damn you. But for some reason, your name came to mind with that theory.

I checked the log. It was The Dark, Making a Contribution during our discussion regarding something about Janeway the Dominatrix...

Ah, my apologies then. But at least it started with a D and an A, so I was somewhat close. :)

And I do remember Janeway the Dominatrix. Fun times... :D

Ok, maybe I should stop now. That might've been from one of the other JanewayDominatrix chats anyway.

I've answered this already. PLEASE STOP ASKING IT! It's getting annoying.

CURIOSITY PEOPLE! I've seen it not just hear, but he's used BOTH on ASVS as well! So, it's not JUST for board admin stuff! At least, I'm pretty sure I've seen it at ASVS. Maybe just mentioning it... Damn it, now you got me questioning stuff again! Ugh! Time to go see if I can check...

Ok, say you're Mike, and you're doing admin stuff with Kanos and you see something you'd like to reply to. Why go and log on as someone else? You're already there as Kanos--just post and get back to doing your admin stuff.

As for going back and forth between the two accounts, I think he just likes to play with your heads. Builds up his mystique. :P

That's my theory, anyway.

I would have thought this was obvious, but OK ...

It is extremely unsafe to constantly log on as admin, from a security standpoint. There have been times when I've accidentally used my password on a non-encrypted connection, and by normally using my DW account, I avoid the possibility of compromising the admin password.

As for why I sometimes post as AK interchangeably with DW, that's simple: after I've re-logged in as AK and done something administrative like banning someone, fixing someone's password for them, assigning a custom title, or changing permissions on something, I sometimes don't bother to immediately switch back to my DW account, so I will continue conversations as AK.

There, does that make sense?

Actually, that's a solution I came up with too drawing from experience with BSD boxes. Never log in as root all the time. ;)

Damn, D.W., I was hoping you'd say I'd hit the nail into the cross--err, on the head--with my post. Shucks. :P

The avatar in the Admiral Kanos accout is perfect for an admin. Nothing says, "I will bring the hammer down on your bitch ass" like Unicron.

Seconded completely.

On a light-hearted note, I've had a couple occasions where I was talking to DW, then turn around a couple seconds, then it's AK... LOL

EDIT: Plus ya gotta admit "AK" just sounds good! Makes me think of a certain Kalashnikov...
