Anyone remember the couple that named their kid adolf hitler

Post by Lisa »

well they managed to reproduce again. and the child was promptly removed from their custody...

'Adolf Hitler's' newborn brother seized by authorities
A New Jersey white supremacist couple, who have already had three kids seized from them by authorities, lost custody of their newborn son 17 hours after he was born.

Heath and Deborah Campbell gained notoriety for giving their children Nazi-inspired names - Adolf Hitler Campbell, JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell.

The latest child in their brood - Hons Campbell - was taken by child welfare officials last Thursday from the Hunterdon Medical Center. The other children were taken in January 2009 and placed in foster homes.

Authorities said that move was done because of past violence in the family, who lived in a home decorated with swastikas.

A court hearing was to be held Monday in Flemington, N.J., over Hons' removal from the parents, who gained international notoriety when a store refused to decorate a birthday cake with the name Adolf Hitler on it.

The Digital Journal reports that mom Deborah said guards stood at the door of her hospital room so she couldn't have contact with her newborn.

She also said they were not told why Hons was being taken from them by the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services, who were contacted by the doctor and arrived at the hospital with police.

The website babble.com reports dad Heath said the seizure of Hons was "basically a kidnapping, but they use different terms.”

“There’s no legal binding court order," he said.

Both parents, according to court documents, have unspecified psychological and physical problems, have denied being neo-Nazis.
well why don't they fix this with a little snipping?

They totally aren't neo-Nazis, sure. They just like the sound of the names, maybe?

How bizarre. The article was pretty vague as to the circumstances of the family situation. It sounds like there's some violence going on, probably domestic abuse, but nothing really outlined. There's also the 'unspecified psychological and physical problems'.

Ugh. Hopefully the kids have a better upbringing now than what they'd get there.

I do hope that all proper procedures were followed, though.

While I have no sympathy at all for the parents (you just know their children would be indoctrinated into a certain ideology...), I do not advocate summary seizure of children without due process of law for obvious reasons.

Same here. As long as there are valid legal reasons for the seizure then it is fine. But if they just took their kids just because they gave their kids' anti-semitic names then that is stupid, wrong and illegal (I think).

Question. Could a legitimate legal case be made that indoctrination into neo-nazism itself constitutes child abuse?

If authorities can force people to not name their kids Osama Bin Laden (insert surname) as they did in Germany, and to stop naming their kids 4Real (no I kid you not, that is the spelling) in the US, can a case be made to stop people naming their kids after Nazi's.

The former did so on the grounds that Osama Bin Laden's name would cause the kid distress and difficulties, while the latter was mainly because its not spelt using English letters. Maybe the former reason might apply to kids like these. I am no legal expert of course, but I am curious as to whether such a precedent could be applied here. Although to be fair, I doubt that the US would do it since they favour less government intervention in certain areas.

I suspect this child will be better off from these particular parents.

That being said am I the only one who finds it annoying that one asshole can ruin a name forever? I actually happen to like the name Adolf, with the exception of one supremely annoying asshole who co-opted it. For that matter I don't particularly have an issue with someone naming a child Adolf, or Osama, or anything to that effect. Joseph Stalin killed more people with his regime than the Hitler managed and it isn't as though the name Joseph is verboten. It's admittedly a less common name but the point still stands.

The difference between Joseph and Adolph is that one is the name of several holy figures in the Judeo-Christian-Islam tradition, and the other is not. (Not all figures apply to all 3 religions equally). Which is why one is still acceptable and the other is not.

That is a very "culturalist" statement. Why would a name be more "acceptable" by your definition because it is featured in a religion? There are plenty of germano-sphere Adolphs fameous in their own right without being megamurdering fuckheads.
For instance is your claim that it would not be "acceptable" by your definition for a germano-sphere in the US to name their kid after a (great)grandfather? (Adolph and similar being a popular name in the 20's).

Yeah, but I bet that none of those germano-sphere Adolphs famous in their own right were the chaste husband of Mother Mary, who raised baby Jesus as their own son.

Oh what the hell...

Christianity has killed far more people than Nazism, pretty sure they weren't really all that fond of Jews and black people back in that day either, plus they still exist and brainwash and molest little kids every day, when are we going to start taking away babies from people that name their kids with christian names?

Ugh... have you seen a picture of those inbred subhumans?

KILL IT!!! KILL IT WITH FIRE!!! [/sarcasm]

There should be a law passed, in Germany as well as America that any children born into a family like this be placed into adoption by gay couples. (& treated for genetic disorders) 1: It gives them an upbrining in a tolerant household. 2: It screws over the whitesupremacist cause.

Honszlynn?! Hons?! JoyceLynn?! :headbang:

Can't these fucktards spell Hans correctly? Hitler must be puking in Hell (EDIT: Hell doesn't exist, if it did, this would be his)

Is there a link between genetic abnomalities & white supremacy? Because they all look & sound the same to me & they all share the same unmeasurable incompetence. Seriously... ALL WHITE SUPREMACISTS ARE IN FACT EXAMPLES OF WHITE INFERIORITY! Are they as creative or artistic orinventive? No, of course not. Can they paint as well as Hitler? No of course not. They are notthing but a sterile cancer.

Have they never heard of the T4 Euthanasia program? The REAL Nazis would've killed them first & not even given them the honor to serve as cannon fodder in WW 3.

Neonazis should be made to wear something that identifies them to the rest of society, as well as have no right to vote (goodbye tea party  ), drive (public transit is ok, but they sit in the back!) or bear arms.

Though Prussian Blue at least seem to have outgrown their parents stupidity.

Awesome. Now go explain this to the general public and you might have a point.

The issue of names being appropriate or not has very little to do with rational reasons. There's no rational, sound argument against naming your kid Moonbeam Starlight Dandelion, or naming a boy Susan ; It's just a name. An alphanumeric designation of an individual, so to speak.

Except the cultural mores are what they are, and he/she would be ridiculed and ostracized for life, so few people do that.

Because we'd have to take away about half the babies in the western world?

And you are stereotyping Christians. Not all Christians hate black people or Jews. And molestation is not a typical part of the Christian faith so far as I am aware.

And for the record, I am not a Christian. Christian background, yes, and I agree with some Christian beliefs, but I consider myself agnostic.

I really hope someone goes and changes the names of these poor kids.

Just a slight modification, drop the "hitler" the "aryan nation" and "honslynn Hinler" so you get Adolf Campbell, JoyceLynn Campbell and Jeannie Campbell, where neither of those sounds too much like "I AM tHE SON OF A NEO-NAZI PICK ON ME!!!!" as before.

And maybe do some slightly more serious investigation to finally decide if the parents are neo-nazis or not. Hell, it isn't so damn hard to see it.
Havok wrote:when are we going to start taking away babies from people that name their kids with christian names?
massively unpractical. buttloads of names have a christian origin/are used in the bible/were names of saints.

I snipped in darkjedi521's response in the quote above because you were probably responding out of context. My nitpick was with with darkjedi521's definition of "acceptable". Not with having a selection filter for governement approved names.
Specifically I objected to why "Adolph" by itself would be "not acceptable" because its not derived from a religious text. Over here we have had a long line of kings named Gustaf Adolf (known as Gustavus Adolphus in the anglian-sphere) so both Gustaf and Adolf has been popular names over the centuries. With darkjedi521's "not acceptable" then it follows that "Adolf" by itself would become non-grata over here as well...

Given the OP the context is completely different. In the OP context I'm all for governement intervention.

Are you suggesting that Adolf is still considered an acceptable name in Sweden? Because it seems to me that you're stretching darkjedi's descriptive use of the word 'acceptable' into a normative use.

Which was why I asked him for a clarification, I don't think that he meant quite as strict as that.
Zed wrote:Are you suggesting that Adolf is still considered an acceptable name in Sweden?
It is definately allowed by the state by itself, unless there is added context like an Adolf and a Hitler would not be allowed.
Now it would definately get you bullied in a public school if that is the definition as per PeZook's comment. The stigma against it is strong here as well so none have been given that as a first name in at least the last decades etc. However its still used as a middle name, while the double name Gustaf-Adolf is more common.

Calm down. Didn't say that it isn't ethically questionable.
I pointed out that regardless of the ethics of doing so (which I assumed it's easy to grasp) it's still nonsense.
