Islamic Fundie bastardize science, Christians dispute

Oh this is too much. A tech board I visit has a threat that is rapidly disolving into Christanity vs. Islam. Not surprising, huh? But the real kicker is that the Islamic fundie is attempting to use science to back up his claims. The Christan moderates are taking apart his claims pretty damn well, also using science. Its an interesting read, if you have the time. The bastardization of science takes place in the first long winded post on page 2. Here's the link:

As a result of following these teachings, many people have banished racism from their thoughts and actions. You can still see racial harmony today in the mosques of cosmopolitan cities. You will find people of various colors worshipping together, all with equal status before God. Rich or poor, black or white, king or pauper all line up side by side to worship. No special preference is given to anyone based on color or social status. The leader in a mosque is appointed for his learning in the religious sciences, regardless of skin color. There is no such concept as a 'black mosque' or 'white mosque'. Islam removes such destructive concepts.

Hey, at least it's a step up from the prevailing Christian moods towards people of other faiths, they can't even respect each other. Besides, most Muslims don't hate that much...

Not all Muslims. But the fact that a large portion of them consider killing Westerners to be instant entry to Heaven is quite damning of the "religion of peace" mentality.

On the positive side, it doesn't seem like many people in America are really buying into the "religion of peace" bullshit. Of course, they still fail to acknowledge that Christianity isn't much better...

The earth will continue to distance itself from the sun every year just seconds but that time adds up and one day we will be so far from the sun that we will be wanting fire pies instead of eskimo pies

Technically the Judeo/Islamic/Christian name of god is YHWH, Jehovah is just a speculation as no one really knows what the vowels were. Really it could be that the god all those guys worship is called YahooWahoo or perhaps, Yah-Wahoa, hell anything you can think to put in is probably just as valid as Jehovah.

I thought that Allah was the deity's name, not just a term meaning "God." I read that Allah was the moon deity of a large pantheon of Arabic gods. Allah's followers made him the sole god after awhile...

I also read that Yahweh (Jehova, whatever) was in a pantheon originally, as well.

Interesting how polytheism evolves into monotheism, back into polytheism, eh?

God's name is Yahweh, yes. His wife's name is Asherah, and it seems like he divorced her or something...(I think the word Yahweh meant Creator or something, I'm not that familiar with Ancient Hebrew *Shrug*)

And I've heard of a Canaanite god named El, but not El-Shaddai...

Basically from the other sources I've read, El-Shaddai is the son of the Bull-El, (lord ot the Canaanite parthenon, also known as simply El), and he was en etremely angry, jealous deity, even compared to his siblings. His wife was often known as Astarte, and Solomon had a temple built in her name near Jerusalem. Everything afterwards is merely based upon a monotheistic worship of a monutain god (who specifically dwelt within and lorded over the mountains in Canaanite worship), and you all know the rest of the story. What a fucking joke.
