What are the GOOD things that people have said about SD.net?

Post by Shadow WarChief »

Come on guys, let's face it. Across the Trekkie fan base were are reviled as being *Insert favorite DarkStar quote here*. And it gets a little old to here about how much we're hated by most trekkies.

So, what have you heard people say about SD.net that is positive?

A friends told me this over AIM when he was having Mod trouble at another board:

"I wish all mods were cool like that anal sex yoda guy"

So do you have any quotes that don't say we're big gaping vagina disciples?

We need not concern ourselves with what the Trektards think.

If they're warsies, lots of nice things are said about this site. If they're trekkies, well, I think we have one trekkie who defends this site and he's a mod.

I've heard people disparage this site for its logical thinking. :?

As for good things...........hmmm......

Think of it this way:

SD.net is like the US. It's filled with quality people and mods. That's why so many people hate it.

Perverted sexual freaks come to mind...granted it was on this board, but hey, here, it's a compliment. :)

Seriously, I like how the board is not afraid to go into new grounds and ideas that are otherwise shunned elsewhere.

If this place had existed a couple of years earlier I would also praise the ST vs. SW debates, but I have long since retired from them though Poe and Wong's resources were always essential reading. :)

Sure...as good a reason as any, and heck others who come to our board to scream at us, like Starcrossed.

As for the subject matter on the whole...the whole ST vs SW thing is something that will never end in the subjective view regardless of how much people like Poe, Wong and other illuminaries point to evidence that says otherwise.

As a board, we are overall better on quite a few regards and all too human on many other...but eh, it makes it fun to be here. For what little web surfing I do better than comicon(a high point because a great deal of the conversations and information is quite useful for what I want to do) where it swings from discussions on how to improve the overall standard of comics (the high points), to belittling people because they like X-Men((all too often)

Since the question is "good things people have said about SD.net", I have to say that it's because a friend kept sending me bits of people's posts, the way you guys were putting down the fundie/trekkie idiots. I had to come see for myself. :)

Here's a viewer testimonial:

(Guy appears on screen while "Not actual testimonial" flashes below him)

Guy: Before I found SD.net, I was a rabid YEC Trekkie who didn't think he was going to change. Not only that, I absolutely hated anal sex! Now, I know that the Earth is around 4.6 billion years old, just a few ISDs would be more than a match for Federation forces, and that ass-fucking is a good cure for bitterness and excellent fun!

Both Wayne Poe and Myself are Trekkies (fans of Star Trek), so are the vast majority of those that are also regulars on ASVS and I would think NF Utvol as well. We know it would get smacked to shit by Star Wars in a war, but we're still Trek Fans.
As to Alyeska, he's here to Moderate the Pure Star Trek not defend SD.net to others. He is not our 'tame' Star trek supporter, he has his own opinions and I would doubt he'd say anything he didn't believe about SD.net.

As to what Trektards (those that blindly follow the 'Company' line on how Star Trek is the greatest thing ever) and Trolls say about SD.net, well quite frankly, who cares?

Most people I've shown this site (for science or Sci-fi reasons) have all liked it. Plus a few others are regular lurkers on here, so when you introduce others here in a non-confrontational manner (for info) they really like it.

A college student that I introduced to this site(he doesn't have the time or interst in the forums) was inspired by Wong and how he used science and stuff to just demolish his opponents.
Also said "This guy really knows what he's talking about"

When my wife, who doesn't come on SD.net but knows roughly what it is about, and I went to see The Two Towers with a few people from the board (including Mike and his wife) she actually recommended that Mike should check this place out. :D
