I can't think of a single thing on the show itself that could cause offence... well, potentially Over a Barrel reducing one of history's nastier genocides to a pie fight, and the whole depiction of Zecora - but those could potentially cause offence to the natives and african-american groups respectively, and I don't think either of those would really be enough to worry Hasbro enough to change the show fundamentally.

I'm not expecting a hypothetical lawsuit to be over something that makes sense, more likely it would be over something like encouraging witchcraft with magic use all over the place, or that the ponies follow a deity who is not the God of Abraham. Princess Cadence really looks a lot like Twilight. Same colouring. The fic I'm writing atm has Twilight become a winged unicorn after she turns evil and deposes Celestia. I'm having a lot of fun coming up with cruel punishments she inflicts on her friends. So far I'm planning on having her turn Fluttershy into a tree (and plant her in the palace gardens so she can be with all the animals there), make Rainbow Dash afraid of heights, Pinkie Pie get zapped every time she smiles or laughs, and Applejack too weak to even stand. Not sure what she'd do to Rarity. Make her ugly maybe?

I still wonder if they're going to do a second Grand Galloping Gala episode. And what kind of villain could they possibly come up with to top Discord? That's a tough act to follow.

I mean, this will most liekly NEVER happen, because it's too dark, but what if an actuall disastor, something that couldn't be magicked away happened? Maybe an agressive outside force? Maybe a horrific disastor? Maybe an illness? But just imagine if the "bad guy" was something "real" the cast had to deal with?

How would that be for a lesson:
"Dear Princess Celestia,
Today I learned not everything can be fixed with magic, and that sometimes you loose peple no matter how hard you try"

So, I'm kind of late to the whole "horseshoes" party, but I noticed that in "The Stare Master", Scootaloo leaves behind footprints that are clearly-horseshoe shaped, so she's obviously wearing them.

Based on this, my guess is that practically all ponies are always wearing "normal" horseshoes, and that any shoes or boots that we see them wear otherwise fit over them. We never see them because they're abstracted away as part of the art style, like most ponies' hooves.

Rarity's punishment should be more along the lines, of somehow stopping her from being able to create beautiful things. When keeping her Element in mind it always seemed to me, that creating clothing is more important to her then being beautiful herself.

Make her watch the others suffering and prevent her from doing anything to help. She has the Element of Generosity for a reason.

If you wanted to drill the nail in (and be less dramatic) you can also add a sort of Tourette's syndrome to her, not just in conversation but in her skills. Or in other words, make her actions ungraceful as possible.

Make her blurt out blunt, stupid and easily insulting or offensive things. Make her clumsy in a way that she constantly is cruel to others without wanting to, such as accidentally pushing people into the mud.

Or just give her a terrible creativity if you don't want to play on her element. She prides herself on creating and wearing fashionable and beautiful clothes. Take that away, making her do (or even fix) clothes that would make even Sweetie Belle (or Applejack) recoil in horror. She is unable to draw a decent designs, picks woefully wrong colors, messes up manes, etc.

Hm, that's a good point. I could see people complaining about that stuff, I mean it's not as blatant as Harry Potter but it does feature magic. But I think the brony echo-chamber is leading you and Zixinus to overestimate the popularity/cultural impact of MLP: I think it would need to be on the same scale as Harry Potter or His Dark Materials in order to generate complaints, and it isn't nearly at that level.

But anyway, I don't think Hasbro will drastically change the show pre-emptively.

But would it be more trolltastic to use an established male character? Like Caramel? OH or Fancy Pants?

It doesn't matter that much, to be honest: if I ever do write this story, it'd mostly be concentrating on the other characters relationships (which would be slowly eroded as Bronan would isolate Twilight socially..). Like, she goes and gets concealer makeup from Rarity, and explains NO EVERYTHING'S OKAY I WALKED INTO A DOOR.

But anyway, what do you think: use an established character, or a brony stand-in OC?

If I was to use an OC in this, he would probably be a unicorn who is secretly a unicorn supremacist (but seems outwardly charming). I think a winged unicorn would be a little too obvious.

Which is impressive considering that in total he probably has about 5 minutes or less of screen-time in total, his character mostly guesswork among fandom.

As far as we can tell, he's a pretty nice guy. Possibly my favourite one-off character so far. And he's fairly popular amongst the bronies, so I'd want to do a character assassination of him mostly for the purposes of trolling. But I'm honestly not sure if the story would work better with him, or with a fresh OC (who wouldn't be 'on-screen' very much, I'd mostly show Twilight's friends' growing concern).

I'm not actually writing a trollfic. It started off as just a short comedy fic written like an episode of the show, but I've ended up putting a lot of silly stuff in it. I've had Pinkie Pie abducted by aliens (not really, but that's what it looked like), wake up in the middle of a crop circle and then get taken by the CIA (Canterlot Intelligence Agency) to their Grooming Lake Facility at Area 15 for observation. Then a UFE (Unidentified Flying Equine) craze swept Ponyville, which gave me the chance to have "CUTIE MARK CRUSADER ALIEN ASTRONOMERS! YAY!" XD

Just lately I've had Twilight possessed by Nightmare Moon's magic (long story) and turn Celestia into a sunflower. Writing Twilight as evil is so much fun that I highly recommend it to any MLP writers out there. I've decided that for Rarity she's going to make her a Gorgon - snakes for hair, and she has to wear a blindfold to stop herself from turning ponies to stone. Oh, and Twilight has declared herself Queen and started using the traditional Royal Canterlot Voice. Have I mentioned how fun it is to have an evil Twilight?

Liked the mention of Starswirl the Bearded. Guess it canceled one fanon theory I saw (that Luna knew him) because he around before Celestia (and therefore Luna); though you could try to save it by having him be very long-lived.

All in all, a good episode. Liked the design of the...whirly...things I forgot the name of now. Anyway, I saw some definate discord in their design, if you know what I'm saying? Yeah, a nice little touch there.

Also: Equestria could have been Earth. C'mon, just watch the fanon explode around that one.

And on a final note, unicorns raised and lowered the sun before Celestia and Luna were on the scene. And pegasi still did the weather. I guess this means Discord himself ruled some time after the founding?

Yeah, I can't wait to see the fanon theories (and what got debunked and is forced to change) after this all sets in.

And a shame my "And that's how I got my Cutie Mark!" joke wasn't in there. Well, can't have everything...
