Would have to find those one day...I think one friend had them and worked well enough.phongn wrote:There were corrected versions of Wing Commander, however, they don't run well on recent versions of Windows (the base WC1 and WC2 worked, but the add-on packs didn't).
I believe you could download the add-ons(becuase he played them...and waaaaaaaay after WC1 and WC2 came out)

I think the oldest I remember going is... Q-bert. I remember Q-bert's imagery confused me. All those squares... the horrible squares! SIMULATING SOMETHING THREE DIMENSIONAL! MY EYES!
And Oregon Trail, as Dalton already mentioned. Our mom used to bring home a computer from our grade school every summer (she used to work there, summer vacations with a computer was a perk) and we used to play all sorts of great games. There was Oregon Trail, and... this one game where you had to do stuff, sorta like Shadowgate type playing... and this other game where you were a fish or something... and I think we had Leisure Suit Larry, but we never played it, and I don't recall why.
I miss old games. I don't remember them, but I'd like to.

"Until today, it really pissed me off that I'd become this totally centered Zen Master and nobody had noticed. Still, I'm doing the little FAX thing. I write little HAIKU things and FAX them around to everyone. When I pass people in the hall at work, I get totally ZEN right in everyone's hostile little FACE."

Ahhh, Qbert. Good times. Do any of you remember a little game known as Choplifter? Basically, you flew this helicoptor and tried to rescue people on the ground. You could bomb the tanks that tried to shoot you, or you could simply go on a strafing run and shoot the people you were trying to save and blow up their houses. Jet fighters and aliens also did what they could to shoot you down. Fun little game. If you can find a good emulator, I highly reccomend giving it a looksee.

Oregon Trail A fantastic game, I think I even got new versions of it at some point. (" Damn wagon! Ford the river, damn you, ford!")
Ninja Gaidan Old School ass-kicking. Way better than Double Dragon
Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? The original, where you had 4 colors: white, black, orange, red. This game opened me up to geography, going to strange places and meeeting diverse and interesting people....

"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."
EDIT: Double Post, I swear I'm going to shoot this computer.
