I was gonna say to cut him some slack, when i first clicked on the IWYFTGE page i thought it was a poral. Just a few announcements about the site and links to other parts of the site. Needless to say it was very confusing to me when i found the incredible lack of information on the supposed topic of the site. I posted senseless garbage similar, though slightly better, than what he just posted. But after seeing that mindless, idiotic, pointless rant i get the impression that he dosen't deserve any slack, rather, he deserves a sledge hammer to the cranium.

To be honest, we're not sure about you. Sometimes you seem like you're trolling, other times you seem as if you might have a clue. But we're pretty damned sure about THAT guy.

For the first page of this thread I felt sorry for you. However the moment I saw this paragraph, that all went away. Had you just said you were linked to the forums, that would have been enough. Instead you make some pretty big insults and further fan the flames.

Oh, and its nice to see people are still giving the "warm reception" to newbies. Instead of possibly educating this person you just pissed him off and he's going to be a negative reporter of SD.net and further inflame relations with those who might come here because of who he tells.

Next time try being a little tollerant. If your lucky you will gain a convert, in the very least you should expect them to take a stance like mine.

Alyeska, he was not flamed particularly hard, and if you look at the first page, he probably got a WARMER reception than he would have if he had, say, gone to a Linux newsgroup and posted a similar opinion on Windows vs Linux while similarly ignorant of the subject matter, without bothering to lurk first. He deserved everything he got and then some.

Then again, it's basic netiquette to know that you'll get a harsh reception on a Linux newsgroup.

But yeah, we gave him a bit more slack then he would either normally get or deserve. Anyone who would bother going to another board and post an a thread about the forum's specific topic should know better than to go in blind.

ok on the warp theory i believe that elimster was right. I saw on another discussion on another website that star wars ships go at the speed of light. Warp 9.99 which is the highest that ST ships can go without the crews being changed into lizards is over 10 times the speed of light. Warp 1 is the speed of light. The higher warp speed is the only thing that fed ships have going for them. I still say SW would win.

P.S I know I'm a newbie but please just listen to the arguement without being conviced that your view is supreme over all others. This means you trekkies.

"Lightspeed" is slang in SW, it has been proven NUMEROUS times that SW's hyperspace is orders of magnitude faster than ST ships. Also, Warp 10 is NOT "ten times the speed of light," supposedly when at warp 10, you are in every place in the universe at once. Whether this was truly what happened in VOY: "Threshold" is desupted. Warp 9.999999ect. is serveral hundred times the speed of light IIRC.

Do you realize how long it would take ships to travel across even a distance like the Alpha Quadrant traveling at c or even 10c? At c, it'll take five years to get to Alpha Centauri from here. There is no way that Darth Maul could have gotten from Coruscant, near the center of the galaxy, to Tatooine, on the Outer Rim, traveling at c. The queen'd have died of old age before Maul got there in time to kill her.
