I used to be able to play the recorder, trumpet, piano, and guitar. I'd probably would have to start over with the recorder and trumpt, I remember liitle of the trumpet and I probably am still able to play the guitar.

I was learning to play the bagpipes for a few years around the time I was in middle school.

Just to let you know, I practiced with something called a chanter, which is the mouthpiece and part with the finger holes and the main reed in the centre. An actual full set of bagpipes is impractical to operate while practicing, so I didn't use it much.

It's pretty hard. Keeping the bag inflated, squeezing it and keeping the drones going at a constant rate can make you lightheaded pretty easily.

Nowadays I'd kinda like to learn how to play electric guitar.

Bagpipes..ack! let me tell you about my experiences wityh bagpipes. My grandparents are all fresh off the boat Irish. They still have the brogue and evreything. Anyway ever summer my mother's parents would have a HUGE party at their house in CT. There were the distinct "phases" of the party that coincided with alcohol consumtion. The forst was harmless enough. Some old second cousin would strum pleasantly on his gutair and sing. people joined in song. all was right with the world. A few hours would pass. Cousin 'Sean' (names changed to protect the innocent) feeling a good beer buzz from the 12-pack he sucked down would suddenly feel the need to run off to his car and get his accodian. the signifies entry into the second phase. still tolerable yes, but one can only tolerate so many accordian solos. a hour or so would pass Suddenly and without warning we reach critical mass. there would always be one drunk who would chime in and say "Hey Pat, whershhh yur bagpipesshh...hic!...?" uuuhhhhh :shiver: bad memories...find a happy place. there is no worse sound known to humanity than the sound of a drunk playing the bagpipes and not knowing what the hell he's doing.

Have I mentioned that I have this bizarre 6th sense/attraction for trumpet players?

I can play double sets of panpipes. I used to know several songs but it's been several years since I played.

Honestly, my attraction to trumpet players is so strong that I have been able to pick them out of large crowds. Hell, I even thought my bus boy was cute when I went out with some friends once and, as a joke, they asked him if he played the trumpet and, he did! THAT'S how strong my 6th sense for finding trumpet players is! :D

*points to Alex's avatar* I'm sort of like that with trumpet players...

There may have been; I did my best to keep it to myself because I learned pretty soon that most trumpet players are bad news. *blows kiss*

I'm a clarinetist. And I also know how to use everyday objects as musical instruments, but that doesn't count.

Hey. Z. You ever sit and look at people and go, "hm, I bet you play/played flute" or any other instrument? I do that so often and am usually right.

Mouth Harp (Harmonica), Bugle, Clarinet, Guitar, used to French Horn, was capable of Trombone, Trumpet. Recorder, Chanter (the preamble to Bagpipes), at one time novice piano, I'm learning to play gimpy little electric drum thingie, one mean table (I'm far better just drumming on everything else other than my gimpy little eletric drum thingie...)... thats what I can think of now

Yup, me too. I'm best at discovering trumpet players--I can usually tell how good a trumpet player is too, before I've heard him play. The most conceited, awful personalities are the best trumpet players. That's why the ones who sit in the middle of the section are my favourites. Not too awful but still charming and magnetic. :D

Anyway, yeah, I can do it with all instruments. There's a really strong correlation between personality and instrument choice. The instruments have character themselves, so it's only natural you would pick an instrument that goes along with you.

Simon H.Johansen: You can count everyday objects. Why the hell not? If I can say I play the spoons, you can say you play the pencils or the desk or something. It's only fair! :D

damn Zaia, you are giving me some major flashbacks....the politics of band. anyway, getting stuck in the 'middle chairs' builds charactor. maybe thats where the charming and magnetic personalities come from.
