Well, I got the picture that I want, but it seems like it's too complex to shrink down. To get it under 6 kb, I have to shrink it down to a tiny size. You can't even recognize it. Is there any way around this?

Convert is as either a jpeg or a gif and change the compression.

Also crop it before you scale it.

Try to leave only the minimum area of the image that shows what you want (instead of the entire room).

What the fucking hell was that? Thanks Dalton. At least no Duelists found my thread in A&P and polluted it. I'd be SUPREMO pissed off if any did tho (and I'm not necessarily referring to the ones here, there's a few other ones around...) because me and Kenny are trying to build a ship...

you could also convert the dvd to an avi file and then get a screen cap, or even better import it to something like adobe premiere and export the relevant frame.

That's funny. When saving as JPEGs, I never remembered having a filesize over 6 KB for a 100x100 image when using the default compression ratio. (Usually, I set the compression ratio down for a slightly higher quality image.)

Admittedly, I usually use PNGs for avatars (Instead of GIFs - you can get better quality (16.7 million if you wish) or smaller filesize. (when using 256>= colors)) which is a trickier thing to pull off with a quality vs file size balance going on.

Mind if I see the source image you're trying to use?

I got a scene from "Superman 3" and used Power DVD to burn it from the DVD. From there, I opened it in Paint and now I am trying to figure out the best way to go about this.

Ugh, first of all, don't use Paint. It can't do shit.

Either use Photoshop or like others say, download the Gimp, a free image editing programme. I have no experiance with it, as I use PS, though.
