Speaking of bikes, I'd like a close friend or two who work on Harleys -- those things are incredibly expensive to repair and maintain.

Are bike customers really that bad? Ive worked with the general public and most are pretty nice, most. Its just the bad ones tend to be the only ones you remember.

It could be said of customers in general.

Who knows he might have a particular breed of asshole in his area(I noticed some places have a friendlier atmosphere then others)

Or he may just hate the general stupidity of some customers

Well hope he likes the co-workers and the store...whcih usually is why I stayed with some jobs much longer than I should have.

i work at a marine education facility, which is like an aquarium except its geared more for kids field trips than showing off the animals.

If you're ever in Orange County on a weekend drop by and maybe i'll be around feeding the animals or somethin.

"Thank you for calling Hollywood Video in Santa Clara, this is Bobby speaking, how can I help you?"

Yeah, I'm a big bad cashier at Hollywood Video. I'm also a fulltime student, but that's more of a hobby.

Our bikeshop is located near a rich yuppie neighbourhood with a disproportionate number of snobs and assholes. Most of the customers are nice enough, most, but there's always an asshole a day who just has to ruin the good mood. The day is not complete until the quota asshole comes in to bitch at us over some stupid shit. Then we get the idiots, like the one who oiled his brakes and then wondered why his bike wouldn't stop, unfortunately he didn't get Darwin'd from failing to stop at an intersection and getting whacked by a cement truck. And of course there's the people who are just rude to us and think we know nothing just because us shop mechanics are all in our early 20's with the exception of the shop co-owner. And then they try to get us fired by complaining to our boss. What they don't realize is that we're unfireable, we can't get fired for anything short of getting caught red-handed stealing from the cash register or putting $3000 bikes from the stockroom into our cars.

However, it's nice to know that "what goes around, comes around". A dumbass lost his finger when he stuck it into the brake rotor when the wheel was spinning. Another guy completely ignored our instructions and cracked his head open in our parking lot while test riding a bike. Another jackass crashed good and broke his shoulder after we finally had enough of him weakened his brakelines. His brakes failed on a downhill leading to the crash. Be nice to us or shit happens. We know everthing about bicycles, including how to make "accidents" happen.

This had better be a joke, as I didn't think someone like you would do something like that...

I hope it's a joke, if not I hope is occurs to someone thay the owner of the bike might not be the one that gets hurt. Somone's innocent kid might get hurt instead.

Steve, who was our resident disgruntled borderline psycho mechanic was responsible for that incident. But to be honest that customer was such a prick that we all wanted to beat him over the head with a ballbat, and it was only a matter of time before someone tried to do him in. I can't defend the actions Steve took against the asshole, for they were wrong and irresponsible, but at the same time I'm damn happy that the fucker almost got killed in an "accident".

Ah...the dread 'clerk karma', have inflicted it many a time myself as an employee of a certain national pizza chain who's name is remarkably similar to a SW gangster....

Anyhoo, our order terminals had a comments section , ostensibly for adding directions to a delivery order(I worked in a pure Delivery/Carryout store and 90% of out businuess was delivery) Over time thoug in addition to directions we added all sorts of useful info, from the positive "Good Tipper, stay off grass, 5+ easy!" to the funny "Stoners, count back change slowly!" to the scary "Drunk, no delivery after 6pm". Virtually any repeat customer had an entry people who were cool with us, would get our best, assholes got treated like shit, as they justly deserved. One of our better cooks coined the phrase 'clerk karma' and I've heard it elsewhere too, and its all to true.
