Well, playing the game. I've done up to Sanctuary. So, my thing is green now, how high should I make it?

I know you can do it, but I never did Legion's loyalty mission, so I didn't have the option.OmegaChief wrote:You know 'Zook, if you play your cards right you can save both the Quarians and the Geth, and better then that, you can get them to rebuild Rannoch and help you fight the Reapers -together-.
It's not easy, and I thought I'd done it horribley wrong the first time, but it works out so wonderfully, and flies so in the face of everything the AI at the end says that... argh the main reason I hated the explination we were given.
And I'd argue that chosing the Geth flies in the face of the ending AI anyways, because the Geth ally with every other organic race to stop the reapers, and it's clear that there's nothing inherent about them which caused their conflict with Quarians. In fact, their entire civilization acted with restraint and used minimal possibe force during the war - some platforms SACRIFICED THEMSELVES to avoid civilian casualties. So they wouldn't have "destroyed all life" even if left alone.
The Quarians were just short-sighted, bloodthirsty assholes. As Joker said, all they had to do in the end was...stop shooting.

Re: Mass Effect 3 (Spoilers)
BTW, I don't think Bioware's going to change the ending: the Reaper you killfuck on Rannoch says basically the same thing as Little Hitler, except slightly more vaguely.
Also: it would've been somewhat better if my (Renegade) Shepard THREATENED and coerced the Quarians into ceasing fire
Since right now it's basically "Legion go ahead upload the upgrades" and THEN you go "Tali, call off the fleet". A viable alternative option would be "Legion, hold for a minute. Admiral Idiot, you call off the fleet or I'll upgrade the Geth and they'll massacre you"
Not guaranteed to work, of course, but SO renegade!

Nice to see penny arcade continues to remain irrelevant to anything.
Remember when they were funny? Yeah, me neither.

It merely says they believe the organics to be better off in Reaper form. I think such an idea can be spun in many directions.PeZook wrote:BTW, I don't think Bioware's going to change the ending: the Reaper you killfuck on Rannoch says basically the same thing as Little Hitler, except slightly more vaguely.

Like I said, I get the inkling that most of the casualties of the Geth "uprising" was actually due to Quarian on Quarian violence.PeZook wrote:The Quarians were just short-sighted, bloodthirsty assholes. As Joker said, all they had to do in the end was...stop shooting.
Re: Mass Effect 3 (Spoilers)
I've got mixed feelings about Penny Arcade. Part of it is any time Tycho sings the praises of Traviss's character assassination- sorry, writing. The other is this. Tycho says he likes the questions the ending raises, but the last minute of a hundred hour trilogy is not the right time to start provoking questions like "Did I just kill everyone I know by blowing up the mass relays, except the few who are going to starve to death on some unknown planet?" If nothing else, it's horrible time management.
Re: Mass Effect 3 (Spoilers)
When I went with the red Renegade option, that is basically what happened. I told the Quarians I saved their asses twice, and I was through saving them anymore. The Geth were going to killfuck them if they didn't shut the fuck up and stop firing at the Geth. The Quarian admiral then was like "Uh...okay, yeah, stop firing, d00dz..." The only difference is that I told Legion to upgrade the Geth THEN told the Quarians that the Geth were going to upgrade again and kill the shit out of the Quarians if he didn't stop being an idiot.PeZook wrote:Also: it would've been somewhat better if my (Renegade) Shepard THREATENED and coerced the Quarians into ceasing fire

And, thus, I stopped a 300 year war by being a colossal asshole.

Because there's literally no reason why he'd be unable to say this without scoring enough "points". The Quarians might refuse, of course, but come on...
Ah, what am I expecting. Bioware writing etc.

No, it's pretty clear that the shit-tastic ending is entirely the fault of Mac Walters and Casey Hudson. What with their notes about the ending literally having "Like the first Matrix!" and "LOTS OF SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE" all over the place. Walters in particular wrote the weakest parts of the game (the beginning, ending, and the dream sequences) and also refused to allow any other writers on the team to offer input on the end.

Yet more backup to my constant refrain of THE GAMING INDUSTRY NEEDS EDITORS. Seriously. People who ARE NOT the writers, with the power to say 'no, this is wrong, here's why, go back and do it again.' Then, maybe, we'll stop getting first drafts of things.

Re: Mass Effect 3 (Spoilers)
Which is doubly hilarious since Bioware was bragging how they had a team of writers who regularly met and discussed each other's work!Losonti Tokash wrote:No, it's pretty clear that the shit-tastic ending is entirely the fault of Mac Walters and Casey Hudson. But Bioware kept and keeps lying about the game ; See their website, where they brag about "choice and consequences" by presenting an edited clip from the start of the Thessia mission. In the clip on their site, they tell you that a wrong conversation choice means the Asari lieutenant withdraws her troops ; But this is because they cut right before Liara's intervention which leads to her reconsidering the decision. So whatever you do, you get the gunships.
When playing the series, I noticed that it is generally impossible to alienate people, lose opportunities and otherwise fuck up in conversations. 90% of the time, the only difference between options is how much of an asshole you'll be and which points you will get. Your freakin' team mates don't mind how you act and always go "Yeah, you're right Shepard!"
This means you don't have to know anything or care about them to lead them to victory.

Re: Mass Effect 3 (Spoilers)
Just finished the green and red endings. Liked the cinematics and all, didn't really care about how they were almost the same, but i still held up hopes. Then after i got through the kid asking about The Shepard, i realized it was the end...i actually cried a little for how terrible it was! What the fuck happened Bioware!? How the fuck did Joker get to the Jungle world, haven't seen anyone ask this, how the hell is joker and like 200 people suppose to make a viable colony?!

Re: Mass Effect 3 (Spoilers)
Dude the fucking ME1 intro lied to players about choice. It's literally a part of ME since day one - it might even have been the announce trailer.
I spoke to Hav the other day and he thinks ME2 being so differed in that way just skewed eeryone's expectations.

200? The Normandy can't have a crew of more then a dozen, maybe twenty odd at most, thirty if you want to stretch things and assume you're cramming people into every last space
This odyssey, this, exodus. Do we journey toward the promised land, or into the valley of the kings? Three decades ago I envisioned a new future for our species, and now that we are on the brink of realizing my dream, I feel only solitude, and regret. Has my entire life's work been a fool's crusade? Have I led my people into this desert, only to die?

Sorry didn't know how many their are, just looked up...seems to be more near thirty. This only makes my point stronger, how by Odins beard can a group of 20-30 create a colony that isn't a bunch of inbred abominations?OmegaChief wrote:200? Re: Mass Effect 3 (Spoilers)
My head Canon for Mass Effect is now officially: Shepard during some point of ME3 gets indoctrinated and lays down during a fight and takes a nape. The rest of the game is some sort of fever dream he has during the nape while the rest of the galaxy uses the Crucibles doom power to finish the fight.
Also as i have no idea of what the Crucible actually does: in my universe it is a piece of Clark level tech that turns-off the technomagic of Element Zero, this would kill all the reapers and morbidly cripple all civilasation but scientinet life will survive.

Re: Mass Effect 3 (Spoilers)
There is only one crew room with bunk beds which has 12 in totalOmegaChief wrote:200? The Normandy can't have a crew of more then a dozen, maybe twenty odd at most, thirty if you want to stretch things and assume you're cramming people into every last space
Liara has her super room for all her gear
Javik has his wierd room
The news reporter has a room
Shepard has his loft
Ashley... dosent even have a room as I recall. She stays in the observation room
Garrus stays in the gun room
Vega stays in the cargo bay though there is no bunk or anything there
As for everyone else... based on amount of no-name crew members you see walking around 20 - 30 is the actual amount of people on the Normandy but there accomodations do not account for that amount.
Can only conclude they are using a shift system unless folks are literally taking out sleeping bags or something and sleeping EVERYWHERE that has room.
