Which superhero could the world really use?

Post by Superman »

Ok, I am obviously biased here, but I think that if could bring one superhero to life the obvious choice is Superman. This guy could handle
anything from a cat up in a tree to a full blown war.

Who would you pick for one superhero we could bring to life and why?

I say 'no' to Superman. Seriously, from a civilian p.o.v., he's pretty sketchy. Sure, he saves the world all the time, but if he wanted, he could destroy us all. Call me crazy, but I don't like trusting aliens to have unwavering moral righteousness.

I think the answer depends on what you want the superhero to do. If you think the world could use a superhero to wipe out all war and terrorism on the planet, then maybe you'd prefer someone like Superman or Captain Marvel or Thor.

But I personally would feel more comfortable with a less powerful hero. One that could turn the tide of any battle he was in, yet could ultimately be held accountable to whatever human organization he served. Possible choices: Iron Man, Vision, Human Torch, Spider-Man, Colossus, Iceman, etc. Maybe a Green Lantern.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

ZENITH!

STATUS
Superhero-cum-pop star

DATELINE
1987

LOCATION
London

WEAPONRY
None. Strong enough to punch clean through a super-Nazi's rib cage, Zenith didn't need weapons.

SOUNDBITE
"I'm nineteen, I can fly, I can flatten ballbearings between my fingers and I'm practically invulnerable to damage. What can possibly go wrong?"

TRADEMARK
Vanity, hedonism, and a general air of smug self-satisfaction.

MOTIVATION
The son of former 60s super-heroes Dr Beat and White Heat, both of whom disappeared under mysterious circumstances, Zenith had little interest in super-heroics. He was more interested in good old-fashioned hedonism, using his famous heritage to bolster his singing career.

PARTNERS
His long-suffering agent, Eddie; Siadwel Rhys, aka the Red Dragon; Ruby Fox, aka Voltage; Peter St. John, aka 60s super-hippie Mandala, aka the Minister of Defence.
"Scientists do not join hands every Sunday, singing, "Yes, gravity is real! I will have faith! I will be strong! I believe in my heart that what goes up, up, up must come down, down, down. Amen!" If they did, we would think they were pretty insecure about it."

Doh, Reed Richards AKA. Mister Fantastic. He's powers aren't that great, but what I wan't is the brain.
Give us Reed and mankind should have hyperdrive in a few years. Not to mention timemachines, shrinking devices, power armours, flying bathtubs Etc.
Anthony Stark AKA. Iron Man would be another good choice, as would Forge of X-Men, Henry Pym the Antman. Get the super-genious's rather then the muscle man I say.

Wait what about Herbert Edgar Wyndham, the High Evolutionary? He can build planet's. Though I think that I would still go with Reed, HE ain't quite sane.

Good choice, Sirius. Now that I think about it, Reed would be a really good choice. But I wonder if he wouldn't be tempted to subjugate the world with his uber-inventions given that we would have no superheroes to stop him.
I just don't trust people with superpowers.

Eh the problem is that we either get Superman or Dr. Doom.

Boy scout with uber power or megolomaniac.

Or something the world would have no use of currently.

Professor X. A phone call later, Sadam is cheerfully destroying all his WMD, while inviting the inspectors in for tea and cake.

Easy, either Thor (The Lord of Asgard version)

or Captain Marve (Genis-Vell) Insane, and Cosmically Aware!

The way I figure it, Thor would try to help stuff on Earth, thus inadvertantly starting off WW3, and Genis would see it coming and prevent it.

At least until Thor layed the OdinForce Smackdown™

Since we have no supervillains, I don't think we need any of them.

I can't think of a superhero who wouldn't cause more harm than good in the real world. They're best confined to fighting supervillains.

Jenny Sparks of The Authority. While she does well against supervillans I think it's her abilities to "kick world leaders in the balls" so to speak that could cut through a lot of crap and get some positive changes going.

I also wouldn't mind the Spirit of Vengence version of Ghost Rider. Besides being dame scary looking I think he'd do a lot to cleaning up all kinds of evil with his penance stare. Not too many criminals and despots are going to be in the shape to hurt people after they've felt all the pain they've inflicted on others. GR would be busy but that penance stare would likely clean up a lot of problems. At the very least it would be good against gangs.

Batman kicks ass, and he's the only superhero I trust without a supervillian to keep him in check. If he gets out of line, you can shoot him.

We DO have supervillians. Remember the Unibomber? Or how about that Lesko guy that wears question marks and talks about giving free government money? Obviously, he is a supervillian with some type of super scheme up his sleeve!
