Help with a stray doggie

Post by spongyblue »

Ok so me and my girlfriend are going back to her place after going to the laundrymat and while I'm unloading her trunk, a black and white dog comes outta left field and just kinda sits there waiting for us to do something. I kinda go "hey whats up buddy" and if dogs could smile it looked like it did. As I was walking to the front door, the dog followed us in a very friendly manner. The dog, now named 'Barbarella', seems very obedient and smart, not to mention very clean. This lead me to believe that the dog belongs, or did until very recently, a family. My girlfriend has a soft spot for animals, especially strays with no homes. The dog had no collar or anything and after five minutes my girlfriend wanted to keep it(Im sure her cat and roommates may have other ideas). The thing that sux is that my girlfriends had to go to work, and I had to leave. I felt pretty guilty leaving, Barbarella had that"Hey where are u going, i thought we were having fun" look. I told my GF if Barbarella is still there when we both get back, then we'll see what we can do to keep her. If not she may have gone back to her regular home/stomping grounds. I dont really know dogs well, anybody got any ideas on what to do with stray doggie?

If you want to keep it, take it to the vet immediately and get it checked out. Then I recommend you post up some "dog found" ads and fliers in the paper or around town.

If your girlfriend can't adopt it herself, I would suggest either trying to find the original owner or trying to find Barbarella a new home by yourself. I would hate for you to have to send her to the pound.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

SHOOT THE EVIL RABID SON OF A GUN!!!

No, kidding, lol.

Like Dalton said, if you want to keep it, take it to the vet pronto. Never know what kind of diseases or parasites a stray might have or be carrying.

What they said, try and find her owners if possible.
I mean, who wouldn't miss this?

The only thing is it doesnt seem like a stray. If anything (I guess it depends if the dog is there when either me or my GF get back to her place) I was gonna try and put up lost dog flyers. Like I said before the dog was well obidient and would listen to commands like "sit" and "shake". My GF already has one pet and her land lady can be kinda funky so I dont know if she could keep, and I'm gonna be moving into a new apartment soon and I dont know there policy on pets. I guess this is something I have to wait for time to tell,
