TSA Agent Arrested for Child Porn

Post by Panzersharkcat »

From HuffPo.
An agent with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has been suspended from his job after he was arrested for allegedly having and sharing images of child pornography.

NECN reports that Jose Salgado, a TSA screener at Logan airport in Boston, was collared as part of a massive child pornography crackdown in Massachusetts.

"These people are your neighbors," Marian McGovern, Massachusetts state police colonel, said at a press conference. "These people look just like everyone else, and they're doing these things under the cover of their own homes."

Salgado was one of 55 people nabbed and accused of various child pornography-related charges, according to the Boston Herald.

"This is just a drop in the bucket,” state police Sgt. Michael Hill of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force told the Herald.

News of Salgado's arrest comes just one month after ABC News reported that a former TSA agent in Maryland was indicted on federal child pornography charges.
I don't think anyone is surprised.

I'm confused. Are you suggesting that TSA agents are more predisposed to child pornography?

I'm saying that those who like child porn are more likely to seek out a job where they get to feel people up. That may be a badly phrased sentence.

You base that on one TSA employee out of a workforce of 58,000 getting arrested for child porn?

Ther are a lot of positions in the TSA. Being in an active screening position that allows activity with kids would be a small statistical group.

You are angry with the TSA and used the actions of one individual to make accusations against the entire organization.

OK, let's try again because that really was badly written.
Those who are sex offenders are more likely to seek out work that allows them to feel people up on a regular basis than people who are not. This observation, however, could be flawed because the TSA is disliked as it is and their actions are more noticeable and more likely to get reported. I feel otherwise, though, because this is just another in the long line of sexual offenses done by TSA agents, such as this, this, this, and this. There's also mention in the article in the OP that a former TSA agent was arrested for child pornography.
