I'm fine with that, since the Bastians want to incorporate humans for their empire. It gives a good reason for the three states to feud.

And while you guys are busy arguing over who gets to own the humans, they go and invent hyperdrive and megalassiters and whatever and the whole thing become moot.

Yup! The Bastians will be somewhat pleased, though. Even if they never go to incorporate humanity into their empire, at least humanity wasn't subjected to mass probing up the butt. They'll probably be somewhat proud of how humanity progressed on their own and caught up.

Two things: One, I'm perfectly fine with that version of Furling history. Actually fits rather nicely with the image I was going for. We can work out more details if it becomes necessary too. Oh, and the humans developing on their own fits what the Furlings were going for, so they would probably be laughing if they weren't busy banging sticks together trying to jumpstart their civilization again at the time.

The second thing being the micronation: I was never planning on using them to strengthen my country. Even if they got conquered they would be trouble to say the least...more harm to take them back than to just let them do their own thing. I also thought up a way to have them be funny too...take the Space Sweden thing to its logical extreme and make:

Space Vikings! They take the Space Sweden thing of Arcadia to its logical limit, and go all Space Viking on us. And I don’t mean just acting like Space Vikings, and running around raiding and pillaging people…I mean running around dressed in furs with shields and swords that turn into guns, and giant hammers, and robot space horses, and giant flying longboats, and firebreathing space dragons, and a leader who runs around half-naked waving a sword and yelling ‘I AM BEOWULF!!’ at anyone and everyone, and…darn I’m starting to sound like Shroom aren’t I? :?

(Incidentally I was trying to make the most funny out of this world thing I could...I think I succeeded. :D )

Speaking of how elder races can be so cute sometimes, well, the Bastians are a bunch of giant kitties and kitties are an Internet phenomenon solely for how cute they are.

Yes, but I doubt anyone would call an adult Bastian 'Aww...look at the cute kitty!!' to his/her face. Not unless they have a death wish (and in a Furlings case, it would be a death wish thanks to that nasty little allergy problem...)

I dunno. They're fairly nice people. They'll probably be annoyed at how condescendingly you spoke to them but they're not going to shoot you. Now if you pissed off a Sobekian, then you're screwed. Fortunately, they tend to be hard to piss off.

Going back to more pertinent matters, taking a look at the map again, I just realized that I have a ton of choices for who I should link my currently unused trade route to. Who would be willing to accept outgoing trade from the Holy Empire, anyway? More importantly, who'd be willing to link up one of their own trade routes to me?

The Commonwealth would be more than happy to.

Depends on what the Bastians have to offer the Haruhiists and on what you're willing to accept from us. Keep in mind that the Holy Empire's greatest exports are (in descending order) weapons, raw materials, and trashy mass media.

The Authoirty would love all three of those things (And happen to have a spare free trade route of thier own to offer you!).

In return they can offer thier desturbingly advanced (For thier age) gravity technology, differnt kinds of raw resources that the Holy Empire might not have.

And most importantly a very vocal and huge audience for Haruiist trashy media :P

I still have my two as well - I was imagining raw materials make up a good chunk of that, though there's always the market for cut-rate manufactured goods to think of. Demand for weapons is going to be strong as well.

Man...am I the only one who doesn't have a trade route to send someone? Oh well, I'm still open to people sending them my way, even if I can't send anything back.

Considering the arrangement of the Holy Empire, the Volscian Confederacy, and the Capellan Authority, we could actually get a good old-fashioned triangular trade going. All we need to determine is what get traded to who.

I still have an outgoing trade route unassigned. Now I just need to find some more alienoids or a bunch of humans who don't mind our subjugation desires to send it to I suppose.

Oh hey, that'd be pretty sweet, and could complciate things if either/both of us join in with an attempted carving up of the Confederacy once it starts to fray at the edges.

I think Scottish Ninja said the confederacy priamril exported raw materials though?

Edit: Wait, how does this sound.

Confederacy trades raw materials to the Authority.
The Authority trades gravity based tech to the Empire.
The Empire trades weapons to the Confederacy.

I think that might work?

So you want to have a trade route with the Voscians even though you are already planning to tear it apart? Carry on then, Space Sweden could care less. :P

(Dark: I would be open to a trade route, namely because not everyone in Arcadia is human, and we are far enough away to not be worried by the 'subjugate all humans' thing. Though there is that Furling allergy thing...oh well, bio-suits should help).

Tear them apart? Oh heavens no, just trim them along the edges a little, it's not like they need all those sectors.

Besides have you seen them currently? They're all basically lawless hellholes, clearly they'd be better governed by Haruiists and Capellans.

We'd probably take trashy mass media. Weapons, we have plenty of. We export a bunch to the Braxians. We'd probably offer high grade medical and augmentation tech, as well as loads of consumer electronics. One of the moons of Bastet is basically Vegas in space.
