She was SecState and his national security advisor. That leans me towards believing she didn't terribly disagree with his problem policies.

That was a significant part of it, but she was coping flak from inside the Administration and Republican Establishment as well - I think Bush Snr was reported as describing her as a 'great disappointment' or something similar in one of Woodward's books.Rabid wrote:Disclaimer : I know nothing about American politics.thejester wrote:Why? Not that I've followed it that closely but there seems to be a big gap between Rice's image and her performance under Bush. Wasn't there a lot of criticism about her time at Secretary of State within the Administration?
But... wouldn't criticism against her from this time-period tend to stem more from the fact that she was following Bush's policies than from mistakes of her own ?
Just seems a lot of the love for her stems from her resume; does her actual performance back that up?
I love the smell of September in the morning. Once we got off at Richmond, walked up to the 'G, and there was no game on. Not one footballer in sight. But that cut grass smell, spring rain...it smelt like victory.

Hey, she can play the piano ! You can't argue against that, can you ?

There is a feeling in parts of the republican party that she would bring some much needed foreign policy experience to the ticket. This is combined with the fact that to the general public, there were no major screw ups in the Bush administration that were directly attributable to her.
So yeah, a good chunk of it is her resume.
