They were used in several episodes of DS9. I think the one with the shruken runabout shows them firing them.Howedar wrote:Fuck knows. We've never seen a microtorp to my knowledge; they may not even be canon.Admiral Johnason wrote:What about a microtorp?

Quote from the battles page to fix my screwup.
A third serious problem involves maneuverability. While we witnessed Luke's torpedo execute a hard turn in ANH requiring many tens of thousands of g's of acceleration, we've never witnessed such maneuverability from a photon torpedo. Photorp turning circles are in the range of hundreds of metres or even several kilometres, not one or two metres. They've never demonstrated the ability to execute anything remotely like the ANH maneuver, which was a 90 degree turn inside a turning circle of one metre.

Actually, I thought a couple of runabouts could pull off a successful trench run using micro quantom torps, if those have been invented. However, I could be wrong.
No it couldn't. Without the "Rebels? HA!" Tarkin thinking, all Tie Fighters would launch. The Runabouts would die. And the torpedoes can't turn.

True, he might consider them alien and attempt to wipe them out in one swift storke.

You can manuver getting into the trench, but have to stay in a straight line for that kind of bombing run dumbass.Batman wrote:Um-all the weaponry on that hemisphere should be able to target them while they make their dive for the beginning of the trench.Ender wrote:More ort less, yeah. If they had come in from straight above the port, then almosty all the weaponry on that hemisphere can target them. The Death Star is a bloody sphere, so no matter what surface feature they're going for half the DS's weapons should have a clean line of fire until they get there

I have actually heard this argument in a debate before.JodoForce wrote:Maybe they can rig up something incredible to just beam the torp into the core
Of course, the guy also believed that a single Galaxy Class starship could destroy a planet like the Death Star just by useing its phasers to drill to the planets core.

How can drilling to the core of a planet cause it to blow? I meqan sure its a great way to make new volcanoes but still blowing it up???

Seriously though, I left the debate after he brought out that little gem. I should have known better then to debate this guy. He thought that Han Solos "point 5 past Light Speed" remark meant that the Falcon was only capable of 1.5c.
Since the core was not supposed to ever come under attack, it does not seem likely that it would be shielded beyond whatever may be necessary to protect the crew.Darth Pounder wrote:Even if a feddie mini q-torp got in would it do anything? Where the hell do you get trek torps not being able to turn? And is everyone forgetting the peregrine fighters that the feds have? A few dozen Peregrines would beat the shit outta the entire death star fighter compliment.
This is just another bias debate. Have fun lying to yourselves.

If you had read correctly, the torps can not manuver WELL enought to hit the target. Second, a runabout is superior to a pergrine on most respects. Please don't question those who know what is being said. This padawan needs a master boys.

Anyway, you do realize that the DS had thousands of fighters, right? Assuming just 20% accuracy on the part of the TIEs, that's still 200x shots, with x being the number of thousands of fighters. Peregrines can't avoid those shots forever, not while the surface guns are firing as well.
