Galaxy, when Ocsus and Mike come in here, I would suggest running. First, hyperdricve is so much faster than warp, it is not funny. Second, the technology in the SW galaxy has been around and evolving for thousands of years while the ST tech has only been around for a few hundred. Third, turbolaser tech is far more powerful than that of phasers. Fourth, SW sheilds are more powerful. Fifth, in SW, the people are smart enough to use fighters quite often. Sixth, you are an idiot and an ass.

Short Term Plans

Instill proper discipline- This is a no brainer. How many times have piss poor discipline been a problem? Too many I'll tell you. Plus this namy-pamby crap has got to go. Order are order and the chain of command is not a suggestion

Get kids of the ships- You'd think this was self evident. Kids on exploratory and war vessels is a really, really bad idea.

Split Security Functions- Spilt the rent-a-cops from the soldiers

Shoot Janeway and the rest of the crew of Voyager- Because they, with out exception, deserve it.

Long Term Plans

Design better ships- How many times have the ships of the Federation nearly been destroyed (or in many cases destroyed) by stupid engineering and pointless complexity? Too damn many. Hire competent engineers, retrain said engineers from 21st Century text books if need be. I'd also begin designing dedicated warships and dedicated explorers. No mixed mission ships.

Seperate the Explorers from the Soldiers- It's obvious that a lot Starfleet's problems come from it's dual mission role. I'd end all that as soon as the appropriate were available.

Create a Marine Corps- Starfleet desperately needs a competent shipboard and ground based force. These guys would be it. Begin designing armor, air support, and transport vehicles.

hmmm thousands of years and they don't have teleporters, replicators, or holodecks. Yeah sure they're so advanced.
Then we got 20 trek ships that can destroy the crust and mantle of a planet in 5-6 hours. Can a destroyer even fully melt the crust of a planet in that time period? probably not.
Hyperdrive may be a hundred times better than warp drive, but oh well.

They have all of those actually. It's just their military don't like it the holodecks, and they eat real food instead of replicated food and they wouldn't trust a transporter with their dirty laundry much less their lives.

A Bith magician had a teleporter ring. A freaking stage magician! The equivalent of David fucking Copperfield has a peice of technology that is better than Federation Transporters!

There are any number of replicator type devices. Fabricators, the Construction Droids on Coruscant, the list goes on.

And though it pain me to bring that book up, Lando once owned a holographic amusment park. It's described enough so that we know that it's ever bit as good as the feddies holodeck and isn't randomlly homicidal.

And that leaves out things like Holo-shroud, hand-holo projectors and all that kind of stuff.

Actually 20 Trek ships cant'.

And an ISD (a mid sized ship no less!) is capable of reducing a world to a lake of meter deep lava in a matter of hours all on it's own. Trek ain't got nothing on that.

Not only is it faster, it's a hell of a lot safer too.

A single ISD can do it in about 1 hour. And where is the Federation's Bacta supplies, million of droids more advanced than Data, molecular furances that can rearange matter into other elements and compunds, repulsars, heavy ECM weapons, advanced cybernetics that can allow a brain to be placed in a robotic body, ion cannons, lightening guns, and mass cloning facilities. The list goes on and on if you want to play it that way. Admit defeat.

Things like holodecks and replicators are considered luxory items, something that has no purpose on war ships. If members of the Imperial military want to use something like a holodeck or whatever for recreational purposes, then they'll wait till they get shore leave or when their ship stops off at a port for a few days.

Edit: BTW Galaxy, this isn't a SW vs. ST debate.

I belive the galactic twit is refering to the Talshir/Obsidian Order, attack on the supposed Founders homeworld. However they were getting false sensor results from the get go so the fact they cause no visible destruction supersedes the dialog. You can see forrest fires from orbit, 40% lava'd crust should be rather obvious.

lol

you must mean the episode where the planet is in pristeen condition, and the surface wasn't even lit up as brightly as a forest fire, and the thermal pulses from the fireballs didn't last long enough to be even multi-megaton level.

Idiot.

Seen it. The only damage was small atmospheric shockwaves. No molten rock nor fireballs, which would be required for such a high level of destruction, or even a small fraction of it, are visible. Now shut up until your two brain cells get around to colliding.

I described the very episode he brings up and what was wrong with it and he ignores me typical

I especialy liked the bit about how we'll ignore the evidence that invalidates itself over the visual of the planet.

setesh i didn't see your post til after mine was posted.

but the dumb warsies will ignore that the volley was only 2 or 3 seconds. and the size of the shockwaves indicate gigaton level explosions and the lava had just barely begun to ooze through the crust when the scene cut.
