Ha! I have yet seen any power in the Trek universe with gigaton level weaponary. If the Romulans had it, then Earth,Vulcan, or Cardassia would've been leveled.

And multi gigaton fireballs would have lasted LONGER then 2 or 3 seconds. You just shot yourself in the foot.

You know those green things that Star Destroyers shoot, they're called turbolasers. Those would happen to be the gigaton weapons.

Think higher, it's something like several terrawatts or terratons.

By the way Galaxy theres one other area that Wars outstrips Trek ,MASS PRODUCION. Lets ,for the sake of argument, say that weapon wise and shield wise the two are equal. Trek is still dead as a doornail because they couldnt hope to field forces big enough to counter what the Empire could throw at them . Evidence EP1 TPM the Trade Federation blockade is copnsidered minor by Qui-gon. EP 6 The Death Star 2 was 60% completed after about 6 months of work and a PRIVATE shippping company was able to deliver all the materials needed and no one was any wiser till Palpatine let the word out.

What shockwaves, the visual shows the planet looking more or less the same. The only evidence that they were doing that kind of damage was the sensors which also showed they were doing the job far faster than expected and that the uninhabited rock was populated making them suspect.

The best way to improve the federation would be to build a giant delta flyer carrier, much like an aircraft carrier. These ships go and reak havoc. other aircraft they ccould also carry defiant class or ventura class

The scary bit is that in the Star Trek video games thay have them. Along with a new fighter class.

They have carriers? What games?

Oh and Falcon, it's Venture, not Ventura. It's basically just that one shuttle from Insurrection with a different name.

Star Trek: Invasion
Carrior
It held 10 'fighters' was limited to warp 4 and could clamp onto the 'belly' of the Ent-E for the initial deployment.

Fighters
Smaller than the Peregrines had wing mounted Pulse phasers, nose mounted 'beam' phaser (short range), 20 'micro' torpedoes 10 Photon, 10 Quantum, had 5 space mines. Could make warp 'jumps' but sustained warping drained off alot of power.

When I played it I kept thinking this is better than anything they have on the show

How would you improve Starfleet? You're limited by Starfleet technology at the period(so improving starfleet to the point where it can match the Empire is out of the question). You can however, using avaiable starfleet tech, design ergonomically correct phaser rifles, new starships, etc.

Keep in mind that you, in this scenario, actually want starfleet to improve like your life depends on it so no smart ass comments please.

that was pretty smart ass, i'd get a cloaking device installed on every ship in the fleet and build a fleet of promethus class ships as the fleets flagship and install transwarp drives on every ship

Ahh, a trekno wanker. The only thing that makes sense is the cloaks, after that it's all stupid.

Transwarp is great, the problem is the Federation doesn't have it and probably won't for at least another hundred years or so.

The Fleets o' Promethuses. That's the dumbest design ever in star fleet history. More suited to kids Sunday morning cartoons that anything resembling a realistic universe.

firstly, FUSES need to be put in every terminal, especially if "ensign ricky" is working at it.
some kind of combat ready replicator with fusion batteries or something, when deployed, will move around a perimeter of a given area, replicating sentry guns of various kinds.
disband all and any government that states crap philosophies that will end up in people getting killed.
divide the starfleet society into 3 castes, warrior, worker and religious (covert warrior and telepath surviellance, but shhhhh)
i like that auto eject warp core idea.
and ill have to steal that simitar thing, excellent idea ;)
find as much lost technology as possible.
automatically inoculate everyone with new variations of borg nanoprobes that remove any alien illnesses and borg nanoprobes
personnel shielding
some kind of antipersonnel sentry transporter mine, randomly beams bits of the enemy away, while simultaneously being cloaked.
steal better ftl travel ideas from other races.
build ships better, so structural integrity would be needed less.
erm, vorlon bioarmour <cough cough>
security holograms.
projectile weaponry
defense grids to take out missiles.
more of this "quantum" technology
fusion nukes.
use cloaking technology to it's fullest, mine vast ares with cloaked mines,
gravity/space diallation weaponry
using the religious caste, steal as much tech from other species that starfleet's sint as good as.
that's my two cents.
