New Virus circulating...

Got this in my yahoo account:

MS Customer

this is the latest version of security update, the
"March 2003, Cumulative Patch" update which eliminates
all known security vulnerabilities affecting Internet Explorer,
Outlook and Outlook Express as well as five newly
discovered vulnerabilities. Install now to protect your computer
from these vulnerabilities, the most serious of which could allow
an attacker to run executable on your system. This update includes
the functionality of all previously released patches.

System requirements
Win 9x/Me/2000/NT/XP

This update applies to
Microsoft Internet Explorer, version 4.01 and later

Microsoft Outlook, version 8.00 and later
Microsoft Outlook Express, version 4.01 and later

Recommendation
Customers should install the patch at the earliest opportunity.

How to install
Run attached file. Click Yes on displayed dialog box.

How to use
You don't need to do anything after installing this item.

And before anyone says M# patches are a virus, this came

They even certified their message virus free. I remember hearing someone say in response to somebody's AVG sig that that's exactly what they'd put on a virus email if they were to write one.

Yes, I remember. Our exchange server cut out the executable but fowarded on the body of the message. One of the guys who got it called us to ask if he could get the deleted pictures of Anna. Um...his wife worked in the same company. We didnt tell her, but still, if we wanted to be asses about it we could have.

Google runs on a 10,000+ machine Linux cluster. It's not vulnerable to Microsoft-only viruses.

Yesterday our monitoring software logged hits to over 200 seperate bestiality and other fetish websites for one student.

The student was being supervised by a "computer expert" tutor who six months ago got an e-mail similar to Ryan's. When it fired off his anti-virus, he decided to forward it to people with instructions on how to disable the antivirus before installing it - after all, if it's certified virus free it must be a false positive. He also sent it to IT support, asking why we hadn't installed the patch on college machines yet.
