Hmm...true...I'll think on that. I've already decided that said base would be small (no more than 150-200 points of ships) and would come out of my current Naval forces. But I need to think on that suggestion now...

Okay so, real life was kicking my arse for a bit there.

But I am back! And with fiction!

I was going to write up a political reply to Skywalker, but since he's considering alternate options;

The Authority would approve a base in that sector, and offer to extend thier patrols to cover it as well, it'd also be pretty easy to get a base in one of our sectors too, though you're still considering that so yes.

Also, I've got a space pirate storyline I'm working on here for later, I could stick them in P-23 to give us a little antagonist to spice things up.

Also also; the General and her little flotilla will be heading out to various nations soon, I was thinking of starting with either Arcadia (Because I have ideas for them!) or the Centrality (Because that will end up being hilarious) but I'm open for suggestion if you do/don't want her popping by other empires first or on the way or afterwarsd (Assuming she survives).

Phew, good to be back writing.

...that is not going to end well for the Furlings...between both the cat-people? They can't leave their building now...this is going to be fun!

As for the diplomatic thing...I'm more waiting on replies from the other players before I decide. But if it turns out that Dark, Esquire, or Shinn don't want a base in thier backyard, then sure, the Capellan offer of a trading base in their territory works out.

Also, if you want Arcadia to be the first place visited, then by all means shoot me a PM with how you would want the meeting to go and we can work from there (and one of us can set up a Google-doc).

I have a sudden urge to insist a Chamarran Laison be a requirement for the Chamarrans to permit the construction of this base, because hilarity would ensue.

That would be hilarious wouldn't it? And also, Esquire, that is a totally reasonable request and one I was expecting. So assuming Shinn has no problems with it (I'm guessing that you don't have a problem assuming that the kitties get a liason right Dark?) I should be able to work up replies and a Order of Battle, just to make sure people don't get the wrong idea about the base.

So basically everyone stations thier own liasons (And in the Capellan case at least) potentially patrols the sector too, given the tense relationships, I see this being the source of much amusment.

And all the while the Arcadians are just stuck there in the middle, as always, just looking worriedly about what might happen.

They'll spend more time having thier ships be a buffer between whatever other ships are there at the time then actually doing thier job at this rate hah!

I'll work up a post/OOB for that base when I'm not working on ideas for that post Omega and I are working on. Might actually be up before that, depends on what my muse takes me towards first.

EDIT: It will be a major drain on resources at this rate too...with this much potential conflict I need MORE and BIGGER ships to keep an eye on everyone. Man I'm glad I thought this up!

EDIT the Second: Also, anyone else who wants a liason here...feel free to make me an offer. This could quickly become a major trade outpost for everyone (assuming the Chamarrans and Hellenes don't kill each other and wreck the base in the process...which could quite likely happen).

That seems agreeable - after all, while that force would be quite a bit for pirates to handle, I've got dreadnoughts with more firepower.

That said, don't be surprised if Confederate patrols in the area suddenly sprout capital ships.

Yeah, it would be quite a force for pirates to fight...assuming that the fleet fought pirates.

Remember, the majority of the ships have to stay behind to keep you guys from killing each other!

Or if Elements of the 1st and/or Capital Fleets join in the Capellan Patrols, we may have to help the Chamarrans be intimidating considering how far thier ships have to travel.

Spartans, Bah! A worthless inefficient lot of psychopaths with a horrible strategy for Empire Building! An Elite warrior class useless in everything but one specific type of warfare that never lets anyone not born into it while killing off so many of their young that they were lucky to break even. All while making their agricultural underclass hate their guts by having their kids murder them as a training exercise. It was a wonder they lasted as long as they did. And you name your fighting forces after this textbook example of how not to raise an army?
