I once killed a T-50-2 at medium range with my KV-2 152mm derp gun, by leading the target. I think the T-50-2 driver was as stunned as I was; he immediately got on the chat and accused me of hacking.

It honestly seemed like an impossible shot, and I know it was mostly luck, but I didn't even kill him with splash damage; I scored a direct hit on the poor bastard.

How was the VK3601? I probably won't get one, but I'm just curious.

I bypassed it; I went straight down the other line to the VK3002DB, and then went laterally to the Panther and Tiger.

Pretty fantastic. It's got the same front armor as the Tiger with considerably more speed and maneuverability, so in a tier 6 or 7 game you might as well be a heavy. You can mount the 75mm L/70 or 88mm L/56 on it, whichever you prefer. I used the 88 and it performed great, definitely one of my favorite tanks in the german line.

Yeah; I think they tweaked it a bit since I last had one, but it was basically a MiniTiger. Since most people get a 36 before a Tiger, the rule of thumb is if you like the 36, you'll like the Tiger. I suppose the reverse is probably true, too.

Yeah pretty much what everyone said. I had my best game in a vk3601, 8 kills bullying every tank lower tier than me. Only problem is it's not quite as bouncy as the jumbo, but then again, what is? :D

Killing an arty out from under the gun of a Panther II, quite literally. The new French T5 light is funny.

Geez that thing is SMALL. How good is the gun? And if we already have the AMX 12t do we automatically get the new T5 tank? Because that would be awesome, not having to grind the 40 again.

If you have the 12t, you'll have the 12t at tier 6 and the ELC in your garage, the latter with a 100% crew. The ELC has a small arc TD gun. It's a pretty good gun, a 90mm with a relatively long reload. Good pen and alpha, and the thing has the speed and silhouette to get in and pick off low HP tanks.

A free T5 tank with a 100% crew...

I think I died and went to WoT heaven... :P

In all seriousness though, it will be very nice to have the ELC along with the PzIII/IV for T5 battles. At least until I can get the Sherman or T1.

Keep in mind that the ELC is a scout (and actually not bad at all at it), so its tier spread can go as high as tier 8s, I think. Not sure what the bottom end is. It's also got a two man crew so if either of them die use a medkit on him. That's a bit of a shame because I'd seriously consider using that thing for a while to build a good crew if you didn't have one.

It's one of the rare tanks that is decent in all departments (gunpower, armor, and speed) but with no particular strength.

I somehow took 62 hits in a H35 before while taking out a Luchs and damaging multiple Tier 3 lights on the way to a base capture. When it was just me an an enemy H35 for a while we were just plinking off each other while trying to out-manoeuvre.

I've been in that fight, vision slits are the key, on his front hull, on the side of his turret and if all else fails aim for the turret ring line and hope for the best. H35 VS H35 fight took 13 shells from me to his 25 since he was blazing away and I was circling him trying to get the turret slit then giving up, ramming him and going for back deck shots that did not work, then he backed up and reverse and I rammed him and started vision slit shooting him which after the third hit he got what I was slowly killing him with and started shooting back in the same place. Took seven hits to kill him.

The VK3601 is a strange tank, being a medium that functions as a heavy. I don't mean that it's like the Panther, but more than it's basically a Tiger but smaller. I found it a really fun drive, especially dropping some gold into rounds for its unique lolcannon. Sadly it's been nerfed a little since the heydays of killing Loewes with little difficulty. I can kinda see why.

Speaking of Tigers, I picked up mine again. Following my newfound logic of 'fuck it', my win rate and kills have been ignored in favour of things I just like driving.

Oh, oh, And finally, if you've got a KT or E-75, consider picking up the clutch braking perk/skill. I can pretty much swivel my E75 so quickly that if I see someone lining up a shot anywhere in front of me, I can realistically turn my tank fast enough to intercept it on the impervium plating.

The H35 can take a crazy number of hits. My personal record was 50 - mostly 20mm, a couple of 37mm, and one very frustrated BT-2 that blew itself up ramming my side.

I was grinding my M12 Tier 6 American arty yesterday with a friend, and this is what happened.

Fun things to note: I ran out of ammo, me and my partner in arty gt 9 of the 13 kills our team had, and I killed or damaged 12 of them but only "hit" 11 shots.

Quick question...is the VK 3001 (H) any good? I'm debating if I should go for it or the 3601 (H). Its tempting to go for the first one since I can cross-tree into the 3601, but I"m not sure if I should just go for the mini-Tiger first...

The H is pathetically armoured. I mean, wow. It's possibly the only 'proper' German medium, but 50mm of frontal armour with no slope?

Go for the 3601. It's a nice little drive and alarmingly tough.

Unless you're me and therefore certifiable and the sort who went for the Maus tree and thus the 3001 (P) (which is worth it after tier 7), I'd recommend the 3601 because you can unlock the 3002 (DB) and the Tiger, and from the DB get the Panther. That lets you get all but one of the german tank trees going. Also, going through the DB to the Panther is the best route even if you go 3001 H because it's a nice tank and will be the start of a second medium tree.

Victory!
Battle: Mines 16 July 2012 20:31:56
Vehicle: PzKpfw VI Tiger
Experience received: 3,474 (x2 for the first victory each day)
Credits received: 49,515
Battle Achievements: Steel Wall, Master Gunner, Mastery Badge: "Ace Tanker"

IS, Panther, 3001 P and a PzIII had taken the hill. They didn't expect a Tiger to sneak up a hill behind them. Took out the P and the Panther before they'd really reacted to me being there. Alas for the PzIII, the IS was then screened from me by burning Panther, so I took the opportunity to slap it. After a slapping fight, the IS went for a ram and succeded in ramming an 88mm round through its own ammo rack. Life is good.

Finished the match with 4 kills, 46HP and managed to get our arty a few kills as well.

One thing I forgot to mention is that the 3601 also gets another engine unlock, which is nice because those engines are shared with the Tiger and Panther. Unlocking those is well worth your while. The stock tiger is annoying enough if you aren't slow. Once it gets the long 88 it's awesome, though so don't be too worried if it isn't great immediately.
