Book Recommendation/Request Thread

Post by General Mung Beans »

If there's one for the History forum why not one for books on science, logic, or philosophical issues?
Please feel free to recommand websites too.

Are there any good books on astronomy besides textbooks or For Dummies style books?
El Moose Monstero: That would be the winning song at Eurovision. I still say the Moldovans were more fun. And that one about the Apricot Tree.
That said...it is growing on me.
Thanas: It is one of those songs that kinda get stuck in your head so if you hear it several times, you actually grow to like it.
General Zod: It's the musical version of Stockholm syndrome.

The Alchemy of the Heavens by Ken Croswell is a pretty good primer on cosmology. It talks about how stellar fusion works and how heavy elements form, and ties that into how we understand the galaxy and universe might have formed. There's also some historical stuff on how astronomy developed over the centuries. There's no math in the book, so it's comparatively light reading.
