I got one of my very few Top Guns in an AMX40, on Steppes. The enemy messed up their timing and their flank attack, while effective enough to ruin the defenses, didn't get me all at once. Plus not many of them had brought guns that could pen me anyway.

The trick with the Iron Duckie is that its armor is sloped so much and so strangely that it's basically another Tier 4 Heavy, and should be played as such. It really comes into its own with the top cannon, though; the smaller guns in the teardrop-shaped turret don't really let it live up to its potential.

Yeah, the top tier gun will do a lot of damage at tier and can one-shot below tier quite often.

The key is to not allow yourself to be out-manoeuvre by lights or fast meds. If you can track with the first shot, then the second one is usually gravy.

The ELC AMX seems like a fun little tank, so I'll go for that one

Oh yeah...the ELC is a fun tank. Whoever said it was a 'sports car with an anti-tank gun' nailed it. :D

Huh. So in light of 8.0, they're talking about rebalancing the Panzer IV to actually be historical.

So, what "revisions" will the Panzer 4 get in 8.0?

A new turret with extra armor plates is being added to replace the Schmalturm. 7.5 L48 will be balanced similarly to the 57mm ZiS4, though with slightly higher alpha and slightly slower rate of fire (approximately equal DPM), and at least equal accuracy. There's a pretty good chance the 7.5 L70 will no longer be accessible.

Suddenly (even if 8.0 is a ways off) I'm glad I went for the III/IV. Well, I was already happy about it, but that just drives the point home. At least the 3601 (h) should still have the L70.

I'm just peeved that I can't buy schurzen still. It should be an armour upgrade path for a few of the German tanks - let you defeat HE/splash damage.

Of course, what I REALLY want (and what would prompt me to play Russian) is having tank riders. But we know that isn't going to happen.

I just saw a tank I've never seen before...a Type 62. Is that a new one?

Yep. It's a tier six light, basically a chaffee only less good. Not great from what I've heard.

I've seen it with T8's (had a couple battles with them in it). But I don't have the tank myself, so I don't know if that's common or out of the ordinary MM.

Tier five lights see tier eight tanks too...

Going by this, the Type 62 gets more favorable matchmaking than the Chaffee, so being a bit weaker matters less perhaps.

I've also heard that it has superior mobility to most, won't lose speed going uphill as much etc.

They've got a physics test server up. It's got the renderer as well, so it looks great. The driving actually feels better, with faster tanks although people aren't being careful about the edges so you'll see a lot of self-damage. And occasionally people do some very silly stuff.

Why am I not surprised that someone would do that. Also...how much damage does driving off a cliff (or even a previously impassible hill) do to your tank? And does it scale with the larger tanks?

Larger tanks should suffer more severely from falling, because they'll be damaged by their own weight.

That makes me want to see a Maus fall off a cliff and crush something more.

Because I mostly drive low-tier tanks, and Mice are rare, I have never actually seen a Maus die, so far as I can remember.

One would think that's true, (the larger tanks taking more damage thing) but who knows if Wargaming will model that correctly. And I have yet to get above T6, so I haven't seen a single T10 yet alone a Maus.

I wonder what the HP/ton ratio of tanks in the game would look like.

It might actually be fairly consistent across the board, at least on a tier by tier basis.

The damage seems to scale with the armor to tonnage ratio. Lightly armored and heavier tanks seem to care the worst.

I got some gold to spare. Any decent premium tanks that are fun to use and are good money makers?

How much gold? If you're looking for cheap, the Churchill is probably the best at tier five and you can use it for soviet heavy crews, and soviet heavies are great for pubbing. It's got a roflderptastic machine gun, pretty reasonable armor and a verifiable bucket of HP for a tier five. What are the main trees you're running? If you have more than one tree you're working up, getting a premium of the same nationality and class as what you're working up is a good idea because then you can take your crew and put them in whichever of your grind tank and your premium you want to drive, so your crew gets to be quite good pretty fast, and the more crew skills faster the better. This all works because putting a crew member trained for any tank of a given nationality and class can drive a premium of that nationality with no penalties to skill or experience gain. If you aren't converting xp, you can also accelerate crew training on the premium.

What are your main tank lines? Some have good premiums to match, some don't.
