People seem to indicate that this is important, but a layperson like me has a pretty hard time deciphering what any of it actually means. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure this applies to most people. No matter how damaging this could be for Romney, it'll be a hard sell for uncomprehending news organizations to explain this to the uncomprehending public. There's just no way to boil it down to a simple one-sentence summary, which means that random insignificant gaffes will continue to dominate discourse.

The complextity of Mitt Romney's finances alone should give you pause, Bright. Rich people don't have to havve complicated tax returns, unless they're trying to avoid paying taxes. And while nothing Mitt Romney may have done may be illegal, it still doesn't make him wortthy to be President. Braging about never paying less than 13% in taxed (a bost we still have no proof of, Mittens) just shows how isolated from reality this mammonic moron is. And then we get into the fact that he's somehow been able to exceed the annual contribution limits on IRAs by MILLIONS or dollars. How is that not illegal?

Screw that, just pull some questionable portion of his tax return and outright accuse him of cheating and put the burden of proof on Mittens to prove that he didn't cheat. Then just keep calling bullshit on him and make fresh accusations of further cheating.

The media would throw a fit like they did when Reid said he'd been told that Romney paid no taxes for 10 years and Romney would still not release the returns. Maybe it would keep the subject alive for another 2 or 3 weeks but I don't know that the damage done to Obama from pulling something like that would be worth it.
