Go screw yourself. You responded to my general point about how people should get education by "people with education hold ignorant viewpoint as well". Well, no shit, sherlock. You think I never am around educated people or what? The truth is education on average helps people shed such viewpoints more than no education. A point you apparently never got, not even when explicitly asked about it. Your response to it is nothing but "but education is not a cure all". Again, no shit.

Take your faux outrage elsewhere.

So, let me get this straight, after pretending I "conceded" (which I didn't), you admit that I was right the whole time, and then blame me for "faux outrage"? Can I now pretend you've conceded too, since you explicitly admitted several times that I have said nothing but statements you agree with, and in fact, rephrase my point as if it was yours all along and say it's "truth"? In such case, concession accepted, idiot.

Wow. New standard for illiteracy right here. Maybe you should get some education to help you with that? If you agreed with my general point (which I asked you directly about) why keep arguing?

I could ask you the same question. If you agree with everything I've said (which you said you did), why did you start out of the gate arguing with me? "Stay in school, or you'll end up like Sarah Palin" was a dumbass thing to say, because she has a college degree. She did stay in school.

To put this less vitriolically, had you been in one of my college English classes, I'd tell you that if you wanted to make a general point, make a general point. Using, instead, a specific example that happens to be poorly chosen is not good rhetoric, as it invites disagreement.

Thanas get off that high horse. Nitpicking is part of what we do here at SDN. If you make a false claim you get called on it, its as simple as that.
Your suggestion that schools should have calenders warning children to stay in school otherwise they would end up like someone who stayed in school, is ironic in a bad way.

Read it again if necessary, it doesn't matter if its a nitpick, Terralthra's point is correct.

To be fair, every school should have that just to warn the children to stay in school lest they end up like her.
Sadly, ex-Governor Palin has a bachelor's degree from an accredited university. Education isn't proof against pernicious ideology.

Because you nitpicked my general point and continued to do so even when I clarified it.
"Stay in school, or you'll end up like Sarah Palin" was a dumbass thing to say, because she has a college degree. She did stay in school.
So what? I did not claim everybody who stayed in school was automatically smart. Nowhere did I claim that Palin's college hopping and shitty education made her smart. I stated that people should stay in school to increase their chances of not being dumb. I assume next time you will counter "people should get an education" with "Bush went to an Ivy League institution" as if that would validate that point.

Obviuosly more backpedaling and goalshifting. Nice going there...

Do you really want us to point out to you every time you nitpick something as if that is a valid response instead of considering whether the nitpick is correct or not? Because I could see most of History going flush into the shitter.

The very first post of the Bad Political Cartoons III thread said to keep the commentary out of it, and by damn that's exactly what the lot of you (including moderators) are going to do.

Well, yeah, but...why? Is it important that they remain unsullied even though splitting it up actually discourages any discussion and makes the commentary fragmented and largely nonsensical?

Or excise the arguments entirely, then the people arguing meaningless semantics can do it and save the people just in it for the comics a few rolls of the scroll wheel. I'm guessing that's the logic behind it.

Hey, thanks for that insightful and mature response! To be fair though, I should have specified I was talking about the commentary on the cartoons themselves, rather than the shitfit on display at the top of this page. My confusion just comes from contrasting the cartoon threads here to, say, the ones on SomethingAwful, where what's way more interesting than the cartoons themselves is people talking about them or making parodies.

1. This isn't SomethingAwful.
2. When there's half-page of comics, and TWO (2) of commentary, that is a problem.

Therefore, I ask that you leave commentary to a MINIMUM, and have the Semantics Hissy-fits here.

Yeah, this cripped up few years ago, there was a big fuss at the time of a Swiss far-right party having a picture showing white hseep kicking a black sheep off the swiss flag. They also campaigned to make minarets illegal, if I recall.

Are there many black people in Switzerland? Because I thought Europeans don't have that much racism against people of African (black or deeply brown skinned) people any more (Gypsies/Romani are another matter, are they referring to them specifically?).

Because I am curious whether its just the notion of racism in it or it is targeted against black people.

Not many from what I saw. If there is anyone that might be targeted in particular (though, they hate all immigrants, even Germans) it's Muslims, not Africans. And yes, they are often referred to as brown or black (due to colour of the hair, not skin).

Crossroads just posted a few cartoons.

The last one is the only one I disagree with in terms of being terrible. I mean, I actually agree with the sentiment there. The media is really, really terrible in this country, especially with regards to political coverage.

Maybe there´s not so much outright hate for black people but there´s plenty of people who are scared of black people, think that they´re thieves/drug dealers, are stupid, uneducated, smelly and so on.

Every part of the World is racist. Individuals or groups may be over it, but in general, humans are highly tribal.
A minute's thought suggests that the very idea of this is stupid. A more detailed examination raises the possibility that it might be an answer to the question "how could the Germans win the war after the US gets involved?" - Captain Seafort, in a thread proposing a 1942 'D-Day' in Quiberon Bay

The reason I am asking about Swiss racism, is because racism is often locally-influenced. In a country that has a good deal of black people (say, UK), there is likely to be more prevalent racism against them. In countries where black people are very rare (like, I donnu, Norway?) racism would be against other local targets: gypsies, jews, etc. Hence, why I am wondering.

To comment on the latest batch of cartoons:

First: I don't know what the fuck is even going on here.

Second: Oh, a nice come-back Romney! Too bad that a lot of that was due to bubble economics that resulted in the now-appearently never-ending economic recession because it burst. Rather than doing what was learned during the Great Depression and squash the bubble before it got too big or prevent it from forming in a first place.

Third: When I'm in an emergency room, the only person I want with me are the doctors!. Not even friends or family, who may hinder or obstruct the doctors. The last thing I'd want to worry when I'm deathly sick, is make insurance decisions. Especially, as the picture implies, when I'm under surgery!

Fourth: Oh, Dear God, Obama is not stuck in the 20th century and uses the internet! It's not like political propaganda for some candidate dominates every media channel there is otherwise! [/sarcasm]

Fifth: The problem with this one, is that the joke actually works long-term. I mean, can any American here point to a president (especially from a party that is opposite their own favoured) that they could honestly respect?
