Y'know, 41s can really book in a mostly-straight line. ARTILLERY SCOUT CHAAARGE! TD shots juuust missing me as I cross the field. Get a spot, keep dodging, suddenly, WHAM, last round of his magazine, TD down, we win with two empty artillery pieces.

The M41 seems like it makes a better scout than half of the actual scouts in the game. Its got a better view range and radio range, and it is pretty damn quick, as long as you don't make too many turns.

Doesn't do that though, since Arty has even less camo rating than many heavy tanks. You'll be spotted, through bushes and obstruction from way farther out than normal. And turn speed retention is what makes a good scout, not linear speed.

The non-scouting nature of Arty is illustrated by a game I had today on South Coast. Our braindead arty driver decided that the village on the east edge of the map was a swell place to go and sit, so he trundled out to it, completely oblivious to the fact that the rest of the team had saved him from an ELC which was about to get a free go on his ass, and then parked in the middle of the road in the village. Where he got shot to fuck by the inevitable attack coming the other way (which I harassed and then ran away from, as I'd realised he would need some protection, but had been slowed down dealing with the ELC and he was dead before I got there).

Of course, this is also a fair demonstration of how you can tech up the artillery tree and still not have two brain cells to call your own.

Yeah...quick question though...

Now that the PzIV can't use the L/70 and Vaderturm anymore, do you guys think more people will use the III/IV? As near as I can tell, most people went for the IV because of the L/70, not because it was a better overall tank. I played the III/IV myself, and its still my second favorite tank, behind the 3601.

I've been seeing a few more of them pop up in mid tier matches, but I'm not sure if that's the result of the qqing about how the IV got nerfed.

I do find it hilarious that the IV was one of the tanks to get discount and credit bonus for the reunification event, right after everyone complains about how dead it now is to them...

Just got the T-43 and ran it a few times. I'm not overly impressed, but I also don't see why people call it a piece if shit tank. Yeah, it gets hosed when it faces tier 10's, but so does anything not tier 10. The main problem the 43 has on NA servers is that everyone and their dog runs with heavy tanks, not the 43 itself.

My highest xp battle ever is in the T-43, it's a fantastic tank.

The T-43's gun sucks and it's not that fast, though. The T-44 is soooo much better.

The III/IV has better sloping in the armor, but the IV has the 105mm gun. And the 105mm is simply a terror.

Also, annoying, I got hit with the Synch bug :/

Well, I'm driving a StuG all weekend (well, at least as often as I can). Won't say no to 70% more cash (on top of premium) on a tank that I hold my best records in.

Still the 8.0 update is damn nice and maybe, just maybe people will get used to the physics and stop doing suicide falls and the like.
No. Suicide falls are AWESOME when done right:D

I was playing a tier 2 match and this loltraktor was hiding in the lee of a clift. No arty, so I was inching out behind the house to kill it when a friendly LT charged OFF a cliff and dropped right on top of it, killing that tank and preventing the last obstacle to capping the base:D

They also gave arty the ability to "escape". I once found this T57 hiding on top of a clift and it dropped off, successfully escaping me. i was........ too greedy and charged off the cliff after it, resulting in a detracked tank. And the remaining TD for the other side promptly shot twice at me, destroying my tank.

The top 85's got enough penetration to pen most everything it faces as long as you aim well, good accuracy and a decent fire rate, and the speed is solid. There are better tanks out there, but it's a good tank.

Haven't got the T-44 yet, but if it's that much better I'll enjoy it.

Suicide falls are also a way to game the outcomes - kill yourself to deny a kill and thus draw rather than lose.

Also a creative way to annoy people. I've seen people kill themselves out of spite when they see a team start to fall apart.

I got ram happy with my AMX 50B in absolute companies tonight, great fun, the thing's 70 tons that can hit 60.

First game, I dropped the damn thing off a cliff right onto an IS-7 and emptied my entire can into his rear and he blew up good.

Second time, a guy on our team pushed a batchat over a cliff down to my level and was disappointed by the lack of damage. Then I hit the guy for 500 damage and put two rounds into him to kill him.

3601 is a fantastic jack of all trades, good at pretty much everything. It's basically a 40kmh heavy. Definitely one of my favorites. Haven't played the 3001H, but it's very fast with no armor. Same guns, I believe. Depends which style you prefer.

I think it helps to break just before you go down the cliffs. When i use my amx 13 75 that way i break my tracks less often, the trick seems to be that you need to slide down the cliffs.

Is here someone that has both the american heavy and medium line? I don't know whether I want to go the med or heavy line. I'm at the Sherman right now.

I am playing on the european server by the way, anyone of you playing there as well?

I run the US Heavy and Medium line. To be honest, both are pretty good. But cater to different playstyles.

Mediums reward extreme, yet calculated aggression. You're able to move quickly and flank, but must NEVER stay still long enough for the enemy to shoot you. You pop in and out from over hills at medium range, putting shells in things, then escaping to where the fight is. You have no armor what so ever, you aren't fast, and your guns aren't the most penetrative. But your soft stats are the best in the game. TBH, US Mediums played by an expert has the greatest chance to decide or affect a game.

US Heavies are similar to that Medium style in that you rely on terrain. But T29, T32, T34 have largely invulnerable turrets if you're hull down, and you can annihilate large numbers of enemies if you can hold a good position. M103 and T110E5 are extremely versatile with great guns and high maneverability/accel for a heavy. M103 has questionable armor, but T110E5 is probably the best T10 Heavy.

I haven't played the 3001, but the 3601 is by far my favorite tank. Like Vortex said, it is FANTASTIC at doing multiple things. You can snipe, you can brawl, and it is remarkably fast for what (IMO) is basically a heavy (it has more armor than the T-150). That may be bias speaking, but I would go for the 3601. Though the Tiger is a ROYAL PAIN stock, so that should influence your decision too (if the 3001 leads down a different tree).

I played the VK3001, but never the VK3601. I didn't like it. It has paper armor. Don't know if it is changed now, but it had less armor than the PzIII/IV. I only had it because it was the road to VK3002db and from there both Panther and Tiger. It was the cheapest way in terms of xp to go that way when I was grinding. It's one of the few tanks I've sold, so I haven't driven it for a long time.

I see on http://www.wotdb.info that both 3001 and 3601 now leads to 3002, so it's up to you. I would go for 3601, because it's only less thant 2000xp more expensive path to take if you want both Tiger and Panther. If you don't care about the Panther, the 3601 is a sure deal. It will also teach you a bit about driving a german heavy. Besides, from what people here say, the 3601 is fun to drive, something 3001 was not (for me).
