soda
considering how anti cancer usa has gotten, most particularly with tobacco, does anyone think soda will go that way in the future? Im told it's mildly addictive, as well as nasty to growing bones and teeth.

That would mean having to remove every single vending machine there is in the entire United States of America. Or redisgning them to somehow do an ID check, which isn't much better...
It's not economically feasible at all. But then again, neither were half the damn Florida Constitution Amendments voters here passed...so that doesn't count for much when you put it to the voting public.

Well, I'm sure if the Nutrition Nazis get their way, it might happen.
But, pop isn't addictive. I've gone days without Mountain Dew, and I never killed myself from withdrawl symptoms.
As for the bone issue, why not add calcium to soft drinks? We did it with orange juice. Sure, it might taste like crap, but it's good for you. The rotting teeth thing can be solved by brushing often, I guess.

Pop is not terribly bad for your health.
It is bad for you if:
you drink an excessive amount per day (like five or six cans a day, for ex)
you don't drink much/anything else
you don't brush your teeth
Drinking pop in moderation is not especially bad for you, and is most certainly not addictive, as long as you balance it out with eating/drinking other things.

It's an exotic substance I learned about in class, back in the day. I've never actually seen it, but supposedly it doesn't have sugar in it. Can you imagine the horror?

My friend Amy and I can both say that caffeine is very addictive to some people. I gave it up roughly six months ago; I've had two 20 oz bottles of Pepsi since then when the drink machine ran out of Sierra Mist, and no other artificially caffeinated drink (I do drink tea). When I quit cold turkey, I had a headache for about two days. Amy gave up soda for Lent (began last Wednesday), and she's still in pain from caffeine withdrawal. Should it be banned? No, since it's a naturally occurring substance not proven to cause harm in reasonable doses. And it's obviously much less addictive than nicotine, since I quit very easily, and I'm not known for having real good willpower. I would care about it only because it would be the government interfering in individual's rights (so what else would be new?), but I wouldn't have any real emotional attachment to soda.

The thing about Health Nazis and all those healthy eater people, is they're not as vicious as people that don't care about thier health like me. I mean come on really, do I have any fucking reason not to wrack your ass, or worry about mine after you just told me I'd die young from fast food, cokes and candy?

I normally don't drink Pepsi, as I'm not too big on the taste. The only time I drink it is over my sister's friend's house during anime nights since that's all he usually has.
I actually prefer Coke, but soda in general is a little too carbonated for me.
