Re: Shot fired at Obama HQ in Denver
Ill do it. Basic run down being nobody hurt, likely shot fired from vehicle, vehicle may be partly identified, domestic terrorism shown to be an incredibly pathetic outlet for losers once again.
Police say someone fired a shot at an Obama campaign field office in Denver on Friday afternoon.
No one was injured, though people were inside the offices when the incident occurred, said Denver police spokeswoman Raquel Lopez.
"It looks like it was one shot that was fired into the structure," she said.
The incident happened at about 3 p.m. at the campaign's offices on West Ninth Avenue near Acoma Street, Lopez said.
Sam Levin, a reporter for the alternative newspaper Westword, later posted a photo on Twitter showing one of the office's large, front windows broken out. By early evening, the window shards had been removed and a glass company was putting plywood up.
Lopez said police have a description of a "possible vehicle of interest." She said she could not release that information while detectives are reviewing any available video footage of the incident and pursuing leads.
An Obama campaign spokeswoman declined to comment on the incident, instead referring a question to the police.

Is this the bigoted rednecks attempt to carry out their "civil war if Obama wins" threat? Bring it on asshole, this is one liberal that shoots back.

The office is here (Google maps) at the corner of West Ninth Street and Acoma. Supposedly a safe neighborhood -- can anyone from the Denver area comment?

I don't live in Denver anymore, but "safe" is relative. That part of town isn't Detroit, but it's not exactly the type of place that you want to leave your doors unlocked either. Lots of homeless people and the occasional gang of muggers wandering around from time to time. So random shots aren't terribly surprising.

I won't deny anything up until the last sentence, but it's four blocks from the main cop shop; the neighborhood is heavily-patrolled by default and random shots are terribly surprising, in my humble opinion. That block is mostly small, upscale storefronts on the north side, with the club that hosts Denver's most popular 80s night on one corner, and two rather posh condo developments on the east and west of the south side. This was deliberate, not a stray round from a crack-related drive-by.General Zod wrote:I don't live in Denver anymore, but "safe" is relative. It could be just a random, politically-unmotivated crazy person (who, for all we know, just didn't like the color of the curtain) or someone with enough stupidity to do this by accident.mingo wrote:Is this the bigoted rednecks attempt to carry out their "civil war if Obama wins" threat? I am not saying that political ideology motivation is out of the question, but I would stray from conclusion until either the police or the people in the building comment on it.
For one thing, if I were someone who genuinely believed that Obama and anyone that would support him would have to die, I'd throw a pipe-bomb or something inside instead of just a single round (if I read the article correctly).
Credo!

It's the old "brick through a window" tactic, but with guns. I doubt the asshole was trying to kill someone so much as give them a scare in the hopes that it would drive them out in the stupidest way possible.Zixinus wrote:It could be just a random, politically-unmotivated crazy person (who, for all we know, just didn't like the color of the curtain) or someone with enough stupidity to do this by accident.mingo wrote:Is this the bigoted rednecks attempt to carry out their "civil war if Obama wins" threat? Or alternately it could just be someone attempting a good old fashioned murder who took no account of the background they were shooting towards.

I'm glad that no one got hurt, thankfully but perhaps we should put off the political speculation (like in the attempted Time's Square bombing or the Norway shootings) until we get more info.

That said...it is growing on me.
