What poll would that be, MJ? That's a ridiculous jump.

Gallup has Romney outside of the margin of error. Keep in mind that these polls do not take into account the Tuesday debate.
Romney has always had the lead among men, but Obama has until recently had double digit leads with women.

Without trying to be snide, if you're basing your judgement off a single poll, you're doing it wrong. There's often a half-dozen polls released each day; what one says matters very little. At least go off the aggregate of all that day's polls.
Seriously, if you're interested in following how the polling is going, find some sort of statistical analysis like 538 and also read up on how the analysis is done.

Re: Presidential Debate Obama VS Romney Round 2
I wasn't watching the polls directly, rather reading the USA Today and CNN reporting about the latest polls.
The Dems are disputing Gallup's polls. Though I find that kind of sad given that the Romney camp was doing the exact same thing a few weeks ago.

What 'Dems' are disputing it?
Do you have alink of somesort?
I get most of all my polling data from 538 which is already showing Mittens last debate 'Bump' starting to evaporate.

Gallup was one of the sites mentioned on Unskewed Polls as biased. You will always see outliers like this. Really, you should be paying more attention to aggregate sites like 538. Nate Silver is damn good at his job.

I'll have to find the link for the disputing Gallup's Romney 6pt lead figure since it was one of the articles that came up in my flipboard. Once again this was before the debate though. I believe it was one guy, part of Obama's campaign team, and not a whole chorus of people like when the situation was reversed.

Re: Presidential Debate Obama VS Romney Round 2
Someone on FB pointed out a part of the debate that really says a whole lot about how Romney views women. Now you can argue about how he didn't have time to phrase it properly until the cows come home, but it's straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak.
Because it's such a chore to hire women in this economy, *I'm a smarmy asshole*?We're going to have to have employers in the new economy, in the economy I'm going to bring to play, that are going to be so anxious to get good workers they're going to be anxious to hire women.

Women: The choice of last resort.
That entire family comes straight out of a 50s sitcom. My Five Sons, Romney Knows Best, Leave It To Tagger. Something like that.

I'd watch Leave it to Tagger. Every episode he goes to punch a black man and no one cares because it's 1957.

Re: Presidential Debate Obama VS Romney Round 2
For me the funniest part of the pension moment wasn't even Obama's line that resulted in the overhead laughter, but Romney going "Mr. President?" three times before Obama deigned to even look his way and acknowledge that Romney had said anything, before that just beaming at the moderator and studio audience -- that to me is a "lost control" moment.Lord MJ wrote:Seemed quite odd when the topic was immigration for Romney to so forcefully and suddenly make that Pension attack against Obama. Obama was like "WTF?"
Likewise for the "Libya" moment... as has been discussed on other sites such as Daily Kos, Romney chose the wrong line of attack, and there's been speculation that Romney may have actually believed "the right wing bubble" enough to actually believe what he was saying and thus get caught in the semantics trap; while there's a belief in right-wing circles that Candy Crowley "walked back" her famous moment afterward (which she denies) and she did agree with Romney on a point after the applause, by then the moment was too late for Romney... the line that gets the laughter and the applause wins.
Funny part is that Tagg admitted immediately that the Secret Service part is WHY he didn't do it... not even "because it'd obviously make my dad look bad", while it appears that Josh's explanation on The View amounted to "That brother has slugged me a couple times ... President Obama has nothing to worry about" with no repudiation of his brother's actual self-proclaimed sentiment.Flagg wrote:First Obama bitchslaps him like the POTUS Pimp he is, and then the secret service fills him full of holes. I'm not seeing any downsides here.
Hopefully my response isn't too much of a Romney-style segue but... does anyone else wonder if certain companies in the industry fan the flames of "the Dems will take ALL THE GUNS" as an excuse to mark up prices? I mean, for the NRA it's politics, but I remember that the subject of "runs on guns" due to perceived scarcity -- and the joke that Obama had actually become the civilian firearms industry's best salesman -- came up more than once on The Firearms Blog (pretty much the gun blog that I find myself reading).SirNitram wrote:The idea this hurts him is laughable because the NRA has already been running on a naked conspiracy theory that he'll take ALL THE GUNS in his second term. If you are influenced by the NRA(And if you are, you aren't undecided; the man endorsed signed a PERMENANT AWB, the man not endorsed only expanded gun rights.), you already are against Obama.
I can see that Obama and Romney both saw "directly addressing guns" as a political minefield, in Obama's case for gun owners who lean his way on other issues.

Here we go, from February an infographic on "Obama, Greatest Gun Salesman in America" and a more recent Yahoo! article, glad to know that I wasn't imagining that part; here's a WSJ article on the industry's dilemma (including wondering if a demand bubble is going to burst) and tax collections from firearms sales, with a quoted portion over at The Firearms Blog.

Re: Presidential Debate Obama VS Romney Round 2
I wonder why that HuffPo article decided to focus on Ruger. It's almost as if they're unaware that Ruger for many years(decades) went counter to what the rest of the Industry was doing and limited access to higher capacity mags for their products and supported stricter gun control, then when enough of the Ruger family died TPTB switched to standard industry practices.
And yeah, the National Republican Army is a front used by the industry to whip up the base(outreach? We don't need no steenking outreach!) because firearms are durable goods which means most people(normally) would buy one and keep them for years, decades, maybe their entire life so you need to go out and by 20 AR lowers right now.

"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."
