High win rate players tend to also have high survival rates though; because players who make a difference in a match tend to know it's best not to die too quickly.

Also, I'll also emphasize the "don't expose your side armor!" bit on the M3 Lee. It's not just arty that's gunning for you. You can be OHK'd by a Sherman / Mk IV / KV-1 with a 105mm/122mm HE from the side. Hang back a little in positions where you can't really be flanked, and let your RoF do the talking.

That just brings up more bad news, T34-85's really can't help a tiger2 that much when surrounded by T8 mediums.
Yeah, that threw off my shot when you rammed me. No damage though; the real problem was that we were stuck with a team of morons who just camped the base on Malinovka and paid no attention to the hill, so it ended up just being me with you trailing me, trying to keep the enemy from taking the hill. And without any scouting, I didn't realize just how much of the enemy team had gone up there. At first it seemed like just a couple of mediums, then all of a sudden there were more and more and more, and I realized I was fighting half the enemy team.

Oh well, the occasional team of campers is just a fact of life in this game.

PS. I have the T-54, the IS-8, and the ST-I researched, but I haven't bought any of them. Hoping WoT wins the "Golden Joystick" awards so that Tier-9 tanks go on sale, and I can pick them up for a discount. At full price, those three tanks add up to more than ten million credits.

Me neither. I tried the Pz38nA, but couldn't stand it long enough to get the PzIV.

Well in a couple days or so I should have the 15k xp needed to get the IV from the 3601 and will see if they were just tempting me with it. :P

If so, I would highly recommend using the PzIII, PzIII/IV, and 3601 if you want to avoid the 38nA since all three of those tanks are so much more fun.

Out of curiosity...do we have ANY idea when they are adding in the Leo1 tree? I'm curious since I got the 3002DB for half-price, and it would be a pain to get the money to buy it back if I sell it, so I would really rather wait till the Leo's tree is added.

Or sell my Prem Stuart...rather not do that though.

EDIT: Reason for selling being that I'm running out of tank slots...I only have 2 spares, one for the Brit tree I choose, and the other as a spare for when I slum the lower tiers. And since I don't have the money to spare on gold...yeah...

I think you'll get a free slot when the Brits come out. At least I'm pretty sure that they'll give you the British tier 1 tank and a slot when 8.1 goes live.

That would be good news. If they do, I won't have to sell anything. Though if it comes down to it, I'll sell the Prem Stuart before the DB, considering I haven't had fun in that tank in a long time, whereas the ELC and 3601 (the two tanks I don't need, but refuse to sell) are the most fun.

The KV-1S is awesome. It drives a lot like a medium, except it can take hits and has a huge fuckoff gun.

And this is why I am not selling the VK:

Victory!
Battle: South Coast Thursday, October 18, 2012 3:37:41 PM
Vehicle: VK 3601 (H)
Experience received: 708
Credits received: 15,860

And that's with only getting one kill and a couple damages. Quite the credit earner this tank is.

Victory!

My last couple of wins. Been a good run, much plinking of bigger tanks that think they're big and hard, but didn't count on the dastardly French..

Also, nearly elited the 12t now, only about 23k to go to get the Lorraine 155 50.

Funny, I've been ruining ARL 44s today. For some reason their drivers think their armor is pretty good and they shouldn't worry about Jumbos? I have no idea why. The things have a bite, but pop really nice when treated with the 105 howitzer or poked with the 76.2...

This one bears mentioning because it showcases some of the WORST IDIOCY I have ever seen.

You know when your base is in the north? That forested hill right in front of it? The team decided, 'hey lets defend and snipe'. So I say 'if we're defending, we should spread out and get a good line, not all camp in one spot'. And then some idiot in a T-25 goes 'no advice from horrible players' once they all proceed to camp on said hill, with only me and a couple others bothering to spread out. And of course, all the enemy team sneaks up our flank because no one was watching for them...literally, they got a T29 RIGHT NEXT TO OUR TEAM and no-one noticed.

Get as many xp in the DB as it takes to get out of any other tier 7 medium beforehand and then sell it?

That's what the people on the WoT forums are doing evidently. But they are saying they think it will take 100k plus...

So sad that they're removing your ability to do this. It's ahistorical. Everyone knows the German Siegfried Line was primarily armed with cannons that hurl light tank wreckages thousands of feet.

I suppose once they realized the entire enemy team was on the hill, they just continued to camp, right? The proper thing to do is to immediately rush the field and cap first, since you have a shorter drive and most of them are out of position to stop you, but most pubbers don't have the situational awareness to actually do that.

No, they were getting sniped into destruction by the other team before I left the match. Sitting there getting shot at while someone was passively scouting. And they just stood there and took it.

Let's see. Brit tanks.

I really like the Covenanter. It's like a faster E8 with more armor and a weaker gun. The Comet and Centurion Mk1 seem just overpowered though, being more or less improved T20 and improved Pershing.

The Churchills are going to be a bitch to play if you ever run into KVs and their like more than light enemies you can bully. But their endgame vees are good. Conqueror just seems downright better than the M103 across the board.

I would be amused to see the British (eventually) get the 2-pounder squeeze bore gun. Relative to its caliber it'd be a lot like the German 75mm conical gun- less damage obviously, but just as turbocharged and probably relying on gold rounds to be effective.

I'm pretty sure it's one of the gun options for the Matilda. Lower rate of fire than the 2 pounder but way higher penetration with the same damage.

I read on the WoT forums that its worth it to purchase a rammer for the M3 Lee..... I'm just wondering what the posters here input would be.

on one hand, its 200k, hard earned credits. On the other hand, the gun against other tiers is... absurdly weak.

I went up against a M5 at long range, firing into its side and I'm quite sure I'm aiming at the track, I had at least 50% of my shots bounced off. Even after I switched to HE, I didn't get any real damage to enemy tanks and I was engaging them in the perfect flank......

Noted changes for the UK Tree in this second testing round:

Matilda's squeeze-bore gun now has the same fire rate as the basic 2-pounder. Gains 5 extra damage, 40mm extra pen and can't fire HE compared to the usual 2-pounder.

Churchill I has had an HP nerf to a mere 700. It's still rather fun.

Heavy Churchill seems the same.

The Black Prince now only has it's final turret and 17 pounders as guns. Didn't see any differences in HP and things, but I've not looked closely.

The Caernavon remains awesome.

FV215b has had a fire rate buff, bringing it to a round 8 RPM. This is utterly horrifying. Then again, as the 215b is a great gun mounted on a tinfoil backwards box unlike the T110E5 that it shares a gun with, it's perhaps not too broken.

For Rammers and other items, have SOME gold. It costs only 10 gold to remove the Rammer and put it in storage, so you can fit it on another tank. It's the single most cost-effective use of gold in the game.

I sometimes feel that the Jumbo Sherman does not get a lot of love, especially when compared with the Easy 8, which is a shame, because when used right it lets you get matches like this.

Victory!
Battle: Ruinberg 20 October 2012 15:05:45
Vehicle: M4A3E2
Experience received: 4,158 (x3 for the first victory each day)
Credits received: 27,339
Battle Achievements: Steel Wall, Sniper, Sharpshooter, Mastery Badge: "Ace Tanker"

That's 1,386xp if you take away the bonus there, though detailed reports have the annoying habit of showing you "Well if you were Premium you could earn even more!".

Highlights of the battle included a VK3601H who could not land a penetrating hit on me to save his life, and a final showdown in the middle of the base (It was Encounter at Ruinberg) between me and a Tiger, and we'd both managed to track each other with clean shots into vulnerable positions, my gun reloaded faster though.

All in all a good match.
