Although it does look like Richard Mourdock - the guy who stated pregnancy resulting from rape is a gift from his God - is going down. That's 1 more Democrat in the US Senate and one less religious asshole making laws about women's bodies. Not sure if that's definite, though.

Donnelly is pro-life, though?

They're both pro-life. The difference is which is more extreme than the other. Mourdock is no abortion ever for any reason and women who are pregnant due to rape or incest should thank his god for that "gift". Donnelly has supported bills that at least allow some exceptions to the "no rape ever" rule, including allowing abortion for minors who become pregnant as a result of incest and in cases of "forcible rape". Donnelly's position is still far from my own, but considerably better in my opinion than Mourdock's.

I don't actually object to assisted suicide in principle, while the mind shudders away from the notion of death EVER being the superior option to life, I've seen too much suffering, including in the final stages of terminal disease to believe I can make that call for people I'll never meet.
