Re: World of Tanks Mark 2
On the subject of low tier arty, yet another match in a platoon with my Lorraine LAM and two friends in Su-26s, seriously, it's hardly fair. Only reason we didn't get brothers in arms was because the five tanks we had wouldn't scour and one of us got permatracked and killed by someone in hard cover against all of us. Yet another nine kill arty party. Low tier arty is seriously easy. Too many squishy tanks, too many shells to fire, and too many people who need to stop and shoot to do damage.

Re: World of Tanks Mark 2
There's an easy fix: adjust the match-making so that low-tier arty tends to be put in with higher-tier targets. I just had another 8-kill game in my SU-26. I was a veritable Rain of Death for the other side. I was really on my game; I even took out a Stuart in full flight by leading the target, much to his chagrin. But I also have plenty of games in my SU-26 where I make little difference, and I can use up 8 shells trying to kill one enemy; they just happen to be higher-tier games where the enemies have much more armour and hit points.xthetenth wrote:On the subject of low tier arty, yet another match in a platoon with my Lorraine LAM and two friends in Su-26s, seriously, it's hardly fair. Re: World of Tanks Mark 2
I find in my M37 that low tier matches are actually rare for me to get a really good game in. I've had like one or two matches where I've gotten five kills against tier 3/4s, but those matches were all due to two factors: 1. The idiots didn't use their speed advantage and 2. They didn't move when I got a near miss.
Though I hear that the M37 is practically one of the least accurate arty of its tier, so that may be a factor in why I do better against higher tier than lower. Bigger targets and all that.
Or maybe I've just gotten used to fighting against higher tier tanks, and don't perform as well against the lower tier ones because they behave differently and matches at that tier are so rare, for me at least.

Re: World of Tanks Mark 2
On a different subject...re-bought the T-150...still painful as ever stock. I actually switched to the 57mm since it can at least pen most anything at my tier (though God help me against T7 and T8). So it has turned into a slow-moving, and heavily armored T-28
The main problem is the speed, and the damage. I rarely get to the battle in time to make much difference (especially on Dragon Ridge...man I hate that map), and even when I do I do very little damage. I can pen a lot of things, but the 57 does SO little damage that it doesn't matter much.
I am really hoping that it gets better...

Victory!
Battle: Fisherman's Bay Friday, November 09, 2012 12:42:58 PM
Vehicle: M6
Experience received: 4,315 (x5 for the first victory each day)
Credits received: 20,920
Battle Achievements: Steel Wall
Damn good game today, most of the team went to the town, but I went to go support a T14 and M4 on the west side of the map. Went up against at least five tanks, and we got all of them and survived. Our M4 killed the M4 defending their base and we started capturing, while the KV-1S that was the only survivor of the town battle went to disrupt their surviving M4 and SU-26 from capturing our base. We captured first though, despite their arty trying to disrupt us.

The problem is that with HE being what it is, going up even a tier is the difference between being an instakilling god and hammering shells out to limited value. Maybe decrease penetration but make it have a bigger boom? That's one thing I kind of like about high tier arty. Yes, it's terrifyingly big but it's more predictable. It takes a very specific angle to actually get a penetrating hit with arty at high tiers so it's a lot more splashing for good damage each time rather than three misses by two feet doing no damage then boom instakill fuck you. I like predictability. Unpredictable stuff is annoying to both sides. Sure it's funny as hell sometimes, but the joy from a lucky shot is way outweighed by the annoyance that that lucky bastard made that shot. Same goes for the satisfaction of splashes right around you compared to the goddamn gun on this useless artillery piece why won't it hit.Darth Wong wrote: There's an easy fix: adjust the match-making so that low-tier arty tends to be put in with higher-tier targets. I generally find that a lot of mechanics that work great tier five and up combine to make low tier arty a total ball of aggravation. Then again I think the best part of the game is tiers five to eight by a pretty wide margin.

Re: World of Tanks Mark 2
Okay...does anyone have any advice for the T-150? This is the first time since the 38nA that I'm NOT looking forward to playing a tank...any advice would be appreciated.
EDIT: Continuing to play it rather...already got about a dozen matches in.

Get the 107. It's gonna be mediocre at best until fully upgraded.Skywalker_T-65 wrote:Okay...does anyone have any advice for the T-150? This is the first time since the 38nA that I'm NOT looking forward to playing a tank...any advice would be appreciated.

What he said, its pretty viscious with the 107, though. I don't remember if it takes the 122 miniderp or not, if it does, that's a pretty good choice for the interim. The Vortex Empire wrote:Get the 107. If the 122 is the U-11 (I think) then yeah, it takes it.

Ghetto Edit:
Points a little redundant thanks to the x5 XP today. I have the 85 now...barely better than the mini-derp as far as ROF goes, but its pretty darn strong. Should be good enough to keep me going till I can get the 107.

Re: World of Tanks Mark 2
I am f2p but am thinking about taking that veterans day deal of $15 for 3000 gold. I figure a 1 time purchase of that is what I would spend on a game I play far less.
So, I'm thinking:
1 barracks expansion
3 new Garage slots,
and a Tier V premium tank to earn enough to support grinding Tier VII and up.
I am thinking either the Soviet Churchill or the German T-25. Possibly the American T-14 or the French Arty or TD.
Any opinions on what is the best earner/most fun of those?

I'd go with the Lend Lease Churchill, I love that little monster. Stick vents, a rammer and a gun laying drive on it and it just sprays death.DrMckay wrote:I am f2p but am thinking about taking that veterans day deal of $15 for 3000 gold. Oddly, I haven't found myself needing a premium (so far) since the 3601 makes such good money. But that's just me.

My highest tier remains the Tiger and 3002DB. Haven't made it past either of them yet.

Re: World of Tanks Mark 2
DB was frustrating as hell. I wanted to like it but... Blew through it right quick, onto the Panther, which is like a bigger VK 3601.

Re: World of Tanks Mark 2
That's what I'm doing too. Difference being I have to build up A LOT of XP for when the Leopard Tree eventually comes in. That way I don't have to re-buy the DB.

Re: World of Tanks Mark 2
The 3002 is one of my favorite tanks, and I had it before they buffed the L/70. Fast, maneuverable, angled all around so it's relatively bouncy, and capable of sniping and brawling.
Re: World of Tanks Mark 2
Leopard tree? off the 3002? Dang. May have to re-buy.

Yeah, the DB is the 'start' (or the middle technically, but you get my point) of the Leo 1 tree.

Nope. I heard sometime in 2013, but its probably better to ask someone who frequents the WG forums.

The T-25 isn't fun at all, and not very good. I really regret buying that ugly thing. I found the Churchill and Ram II to be the most fun because they got a rapid firing, accurate gunDrMckay wrote:I am f2p but am thinking about taking that veterans day deal of $15 for 3000 gold.
