Nah. I don't think the GOP as a body are capable of that level of subtlety, and even if they were, can you see Romney going along with it?
There are hardly any excesses of the most crazed psychopath that cannot easily be duplicated by a normal kindly family man who just comes in to work every day and has a job to do.

Re: Romney honestly thought he would win.
All Romney did was reinforce the beliefs he stated back in May and prove that he was a lying sack of shit. What's most interesting is how many Republicans are essentially agreeing with him ("people want free stuff") while repudiating him at the same time. It's the same sort of cognitive dissonance that allows them to be both pious Christian social conservatives and fervent Libertarian fiscal conservatives at the same time.

Yeah, actually. I mean, what's Romney got to lose, his millions upon millions of dollars? He's hit his political ceiling and used up most of his political capital in the run; it's not like he's Al Gore and has a cause close to his heart. I mean I don't think the guy is in touch with the electorate, but I just don't see the point in making the comment without some ulterior motive. Unlike the response to the 47%, the politicians on the right seem unified on this (not the pundits, though). It just feels too smooth a response to be off the cuff to me, especially with how the reaction went.Zaune wrote:Nah. He does have a cause near and dear to his heart, two of them. One is called the "capital gains tax" and the other is "the inheritance tax"Justice wrote:Yeah, actually.
