As for the Wedge thing, fine. I'm wrong. Nix the thread if it bothers you so much. HOS it for all I care.

But as for you claims of being "just plain dumb," or a troll... Well, you have a right to those opinions. But I'm not here to make people like me. Nor am I here to debate my intelligence, or yours for that matter. I'm simply here to carry on SW- and ST-related conversation. And to this point, Wedge thread notwithstanding, I've done so. And I will continue to do so. And if my presence annoys you, then I am truly sorry.

As for Col. Crackpot and the very creation of this thread, I find it hilarious that you would go so far as to lobby for support in your distaste for me. And to talk about me like I wouldn't read the thread with my name on it!! What gall! You must have to carry your nuts in a wheelbarrow when you walk, my friend, because that takes some serious cajones.

And to 2000AD, I have this to say: How can I, a new member, be held accountable for the pre-existing level of perversion among a group of people I don't even know? I'm very sorry for wasting your time, but if you saw the string and you knew that you'd seen something like it before (like the title didn't give away the whole thread,) why did you bother to read it at all? You're the infliction of your own torture.

I respect all of you very much for your broad base of sci-fi knowledge. But I think you should be ashamed of yourselves for not encouraging someone relatively new to the trade. Does it make you all feel superior to display your base of knowledge at the expense of someone else? I hope so.

Keep an eye on yourself. You are giving your fellow newbs a bad name. It is quite possible to begin posting on this board without immediatly making a giant ass of yourself. Your entire "Wedge vs. Jar Jar" thread was nothing but a 9mm round in your own foot. It didn't provide anything to your fellow board members except for an opportunity to haze what appears to be a complete dumbass of a newbie. You really appear to be atotal jackass, based on what you have posted. Now, it may very well be the case that you are a grade A, super guy, who is just starting out on the wrong foot. Unfortunatly, from where I stand, you look like a jackass.

My advice? pay attention, post carefully, don't create new threads unless you are sure they will get somewhere, and, if you don't like it here,

leave.

1) If people want to judge other newbies by my actions, that's their own shallow demeanor. Nothing I can do to fix that.

2) I appear to be a jackass based on what criteria? I started a fucked-up thread based on an errant and relatively ill-informed opinion, for which I apologized profusely, and even called for it to be HOSed myself. An "atotal jackass" would have just said, "No, I'm right, you're all wrong."

3) (This goes for the rest of you) Of course I'm not trying to act hostile toward those who are better-informed than myself. I assure you that the "fuck you all" was relatively light-hearted. I would bet a fair sum that most of the people in here have been flamed once or twice in their lives (go ahead and admit it; no one's looking). It's a part of being a newbie, and newbies accept this. I accept this. I'm going to get flamed. Fine. And when I lose my status as "newbie," I will flame other newbies as well. It's the way things work on the boards.

4) (For Thirdfain) Yes, the Wedge thread was ridiculous. Thank you for your flame, I appreciate it. Now, to counter your claims that I am a "complete dumbass of a newbie," go read some of the other stuff I've written on the boards and tell me I've made an ass of myself.

5) This is the last post I'm going to put on this thread. If you're looking to flame me, do it in a PM, because I'm not reading this string anymore. It reeks of shallowness, and I keep arguing the same points over and over again. I'm done defending myself. I made a mistake, and have apologized for the waste of otherwise valuable time. If you're going to flame me for admitting that I was wrong, you'd better ask yourself why you would do such a thing.
