Since the Vulcan Death Grip was a ruse and does not exist, it obviously loses this contest big-time. I'll take a working Jedi power over a non-working ruse any time.

Fucking with someone's mind is infinitly more advantageous than a physical attack, assuming one is equally proficient at either.

In the episode where the "Vulcan Death Grip" was invented - was it The Enterprise Incident? - it was used in a way of fooling the Romulans into thinking that Spock had accidently killed Kirk ("I was not prepared for the captains attack, and I automatically used... (cue ominous music)... the Vulcan Death Grip.")

It turned out that this maneuver was something Spock made up for the purposes of fooling the Romulans into thinking that Kirk was dead.

The Vulcan Death Grip was either something Spock made up or he just gave the name to a different Vulcan technique that mimics death because the Romulans wouldn't know about it either way.

As for the second comment: I think using the Vulcan Nerve Pinch (or the Famous Spock Nerve Pinch) to help you score is called rape.

This is sick, but it's a weird topic, so I'll go on:

The VDG would be an OK form of execution, but it takes too long to work and too much concentration on the killer's part. If you were outnumbered the victim's friends would kill you long before you could finish.

Jedi mind tricks are far more useful, and fun!!!! "Republican credits...will do fine."

Err....that would mean only a Jedi Master could do it then? Qui-Gon was just short of a master and it didn't work. Luke was just short of a master and it didn't work. IMO, it depends on whether or not the individual is strong-minded or weak-minded. Unless you have other sources in the EU that claim otherwise...

Jabba and Watto both said that mind tricks don't work on their species. Or at least Watto said that. I don't know if that was stated in ROTJ.

Nothing said about his species.

Watto claimed force tricks didn't work on his species, but he didn't seem too resistant to Anakin's use of the force in AOTC.
