Question about Steam

Post by Eternal_Freedom »

I purchased some of the DLC for Modern Warfare 3 from Steam over Christmas and duly downloaded it to the computer at my parent's place. On returning to my student flat (and my own computer) the DLC isn't listed as available to download and when I click on "View DLC" it says I have to buy it again to use it.

Am I missing something? I thought the point of Steam was that I could have my games registered and it wouldn't matter which PC I used.
Baltar: "I don't want to miss a moment of the last Battlestar's destruction!"
Centurion: "Sir, I really think you should look at the other Battlestar."
Baltar: "What are you babbling about other...it's impossible!"
Centurion: "No. It is a Battlestar."

Corrax Entry 7:17: So you walk eternally through the shadow realms, standing against evil where all others falter. May your thirst for retribution never quench, may the blood on your sword never dry, and may we never need you again.

Stupid question maybe, but are you logged in to the same account?
I do know how to spell
AniThyng is merely the name I gave to what became my favourite Baldur's Gate II mage character :P

Yup, I verified that. All my registered games are there, but not the DLC.

Step 1 - load the game. A lot of the DLC (especially w/MP heavy stuff) is just unlocking content that has already been downloaded and patched in and so it might not appear as a separate download. So have a look in game to see if it's there.

If not? Hit up Steam Support, they are usually pretty damn fast and helpful.

Having checked again, the DLC was registered under "MW3 - Multiplayer" rather than just "MW3." Opened the bonus maps in MP and they work, so I went back and checked on the DLC spec ops and chaos mode and they now work as well. Problem resolved.

Thanks for the help.
