Cat burglar?

It had to be said...
A minute's thought suggests that the very idea of this is stupid. A more detailed examination raises the possibility that it might be an answer to the question "how could the Germans win the war after the US gets involved?" - Captain Seafort, in a thread proposing a 1942 'D-Day' in Quiberon Bay

Ghetto edit . They should free the cat and find out where it returns to. A cat going between the prison and a supply station must have been trained to do so by supplying food. It will return to the responsible party.

Thing is, can cats be trained to do that? I'd expect to find about a dozen other similarly equipped cats who just ran off and are doing their own thing!

Im guessing the prisoners just started feeding some local crazy cat lady's herd and their outside accomplices just picked the most reliable one

I'm leaning more towards "elaborate practical joke", personally.
There are hardly any excesses of the most crazed psychopath that cannot easily be duplicated by a normal kindly family man who just comes in to work every day and has a job to do.

Replace "ginger" with "n*gger," and suddenly it become a lot less funny, doesn't it?

While cats can't be trained to the same degree as dogs, they can be trained to a degree (ref housebreaking them or keeping them from clawing off the wallpapers) and they respond in a predictable manner in certain situations even without that (as everybody who has a cat and an electrical can opener knows). While I do expect the reliabilty of a scheme like this to be far from 100% I think it's workable.
I do pity the poor sod who is tasked with removing the equipment from the cat.

alcohol, 1 it breaks down the duct tape, two it functions as an anti-clawing anti-septic, three it helps calm the person dealing with the cat down.
