Sex scandals in Singapore

Post by PainRack »

Over a period of one year, there has been way too many sex scandals erupting in Singapore, some way too juicy not to share.

Ok. The first and biggest was of course an underage sex scandal.

Howard Shaw sentenced to 3 months' jail; out on bail pending appeal

SINGAPORE: Former executive director of the Singapore Environment Council, Howard Shaw, has been sentenced to three months' jail for having paid sex with an underage girl.

The 41-year-old grandson of the founder of Shaw Organisation admitted in June to paying a 17-year-old girl S$500 for sex in October 2010.

In the prosecution's submissions, it stated that the offence warrants a custodial sentence and urged the court to mete out a three-month jail term to Shaw.

The prosecution said the minor involved is "worthy" of protection as stated under the law.

Adding that the extent of the culpability depends on whether Shaw tried to verify the minor's age, the prosecution pointed out the accused took absolutely no steps to ascertain the girl's age.

The prosecution said having done nothing to ascertain the girl's age yet the defence asked for a non-custodial sentence is something that "cannot be done".

If the minor refuses to show documents to confirm her age, the prosecution said a patron should walk away "as due diligence".

Howard shaw is a big time honcho, but other of the 80 men charged with having underage sex with a prostitute included civil servants and a principal, who was actually the first to be charged and jailed for six weeks.

Well, a case of moral torpitude, and yeah, underage sex was wrong, but its clearly the girl and pimp fault because they deceived others. The news about that court case doesn't reveal whether Mr Teo is fully aware of her age of course.... But so far, just scandalous.

Of course, what followed next had a national impact.
The opposition party Worker Party, which made national news for seizing Aljunied GRC while securing its old holding ground in Hougang, the first in Singapore history, well, the chosen successor in Hougang got his sex scandal released.

Sex Scandals in Singapore: What's Going On?
Sex scandals have recently been hogging the news headlines in Singapore. High profile individuals in positions of senior responsibility in the public service, as well as an opposition MP, have been alleged to have committed adultery. All three of the accused senior public servants (the chiefs of SCDF and CNB and a primary school principal) have been forced to resign from their positions, while opposition MP Yaw Shin Leong has resigned from his leadership position in the Workers Party. The serial expose of infidelity has left me wondering: what is going on with Singapore's leaders? Why are so many sex scandals happening in this island nation?
MP Yaw Shin Leong was found to be doing the hanky panky with another party supporter, who also happened to be married..... And so, he "chose to resign" and thus the electoral seat of Hougang was left up for another by-election.(Which had its own exciting news, culminating when a Hougang resident sued the Prime Minister for delaying the by election and thus leaving her without electoral representation in Parliament. Oh GODS! I love you madam!)

But so far, no foul, right?

Of course, it just so happened that during that SAME period, another two PUBLIC OFFICIALS got caught for having adultery.

And the case evolved into something more complex.

Ten counts of corruption.

That’s what former Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) chief Peter Lim Sin Pang is facing after being charged in court today.

The 52-year-old is alleged to have shown favour to potential vendors in return for sexual gratification from women representing different companies.

The three women according to Channel NewsAsia are:

1) Pang Chor Mui, a general manager at Nimrod Engineering (married, in her 40s)
2) Lee Wei Hoon, a director at Singapore Radiation Centre (married, in her 40s)
3) Esther Goh, a business development director at NCS Private Limited (single, age unknown)

The sexual encounters happened between 2 May 2010 to 23 November 2011 when Lim was still chief of SCDF.

Esther Goh is apparently involved in seven sexual encounters with Lim.

Lim could end up in jail for five years and be slapped with a fine of $100,000 for each count of corruption, if found guilty.

However, according to Chinese daily Lianhe Wanbao, the prosecutor has said that only three of the charges will be pursued if Lim pleads guilty.

The three charges are:

1) Receiving oral sex from Pang Chor Mui at a car park at Stadium Walk.

2) Accepting sexual gratification in return for favours from Lee Wei Hoon in Paris.

3) Receiving sexual gratification in exchange for favours from Esther Goh at Marina Bay Golf Course.

The remaining seven charges will be considered by the judge when the verdict is passed, reported the newspaper. It is uncertain whether Lim will plead guilty to the charges. His lawyer said he will consult his client before presenting his case.

Lim's next court hearing is on 5 July.

The Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB), arrested Lim in early January for allegations of 'serious personal misconduct'.

Prior to Lim’s arrest, the CPIB also arrested former Central Narcotics Bureau director Ng Boon Gay for similar reasons.

News of CPIB nabbing both men was first published by the Chinese daily Lianhe Wanbao

Sex-for-business case: Ex-CNB chief to claim trial

SINGAPORE - Former Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) chief Ng Boon Gay has announced through his lawyers that he will be claiming trial for all four charges of corruption he is facing in relation to the high profile sex-for-business case.

The 46-year-old Ng had allegedly received sexual gratification from Ms Cecilia Sue Siew Nang, who was then an employee of IT vendors Oracle Corporation Singapore and Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), in return for "furthering the business interests" of the companies she was working for. His lawyers also told the media on July 19 that they have yet to be given the specifics of the charges brought against Ng.

Ng's lawyer had previously raised to the court that the charges against Ng did not clarify how he had helped "further the business interests" of the companies. Senior Counsel Tan Chee Meng and Ms Melanie Ho said yesterday that the generality of the charges is a point they intend to bring before the trial judge.

The team is asking prosecution to clarify what the supposed corrupt acts are, as well as define the business interests that were allegedly furthered.[/quote]
Hmmmm. Having a blowjob while discussing business. Sounds steamy.

Out of.... respect for the members, I won't link to their picture, although I think so far, only two of the participants pics has been released. I'm sure that the blogosphere has already dug out the facebook account for esther goh though, but yeah........

Of course, one can now imagine why the winners of our FHM modelling competition/GND joined the banking industry.

Now, to top it off, we have professionals breaching the professional trust implicit in their relationships.

Psychiatrist suspended over sexual relations with patient
Posted: 25 July 2012 2312 hrs

SINGAPORE : A psychiatrist has been suspended for three years for having a long-term sexual relationship with a patient while she was under his care.

Dr Kong Sim Guan, a psychiatrist at The Psychiatric & Behavioural Medicine Clinic (Ang & Kong), faced one charge of professional misconduct arising from a complaint to the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) on March 23, 2010.

"The fact that Dr Kong had a sexual relationship with the patient for at least 10 years between 1997 to about 2008 was never denied," said the SMC in a statement on Wednesday.

Dr Kong, 63, contested the charge on the basis that the relationship only started after the doctor-patient relationship had ended.

It’s certainly not a happy birthday for former National University of Singapore (NUS) law student Darinne Ko, who instead of happily celebrating turning 23 today, probably spent more time with her lawyers to discuss her alleged role in the ‘sex for grades’ case.

And she’s hired some of the best lawyers in town, with well-known lawyers Subhas Anandan and Sunil Sudheesan representing her, according to a report from The New Paper (TNP) which first broke the ‘sex for grades’ story.

She allegedly had sex with the law faculty’s Associate Professor Tey Tsun Hang for better grades.

One NUS law faculty student told Lianhe Wanbao that Ms Ko only got a ‘B’ grade for the module ‘Personal Property Law’ which was taught by Tey.

Tey, who was a former district judge, was charged in court yesterday for corruption.

He is also said to have allegedly received gifts from the student amounting to over $1,000, including a Montblanc pen, an iPod and shirts, and had sex with her twice in four days during a two-month period in 2010, reported Lianhe Wanbao.

Others who had known Ms Ko told the Chinese daily she came from a wealthy family and did not seem too concerned about her grades.
And of course, the law professor in this case has claimed that he was being......... "attacked" by the PAP because he criticised the legal system in the past. Right, it had nothing to do with the fact that you "allowed" a student to seduce you so that you gave her a better grade in class..........

And come on, her best friend was like, so much hotter...........

A female teacher of a secondary school is currently being investigated by police for allegedly having sex with a male student, reported Lianhe Wanbao and The Straits Times.

The secondary school is said to be one of the top schools in Singapore.

The teacher, said to be in her twenties, was a literature teacher and in charge of one of the school’s sports teams, according to both newspapers.

The student involved is now 16-years-old and was a member of the sports team under her charge.

Many believe that the pair began to develop feelings for each other after spending prolonged periods of time together as the boy was part of the teacher's sports team, reported Lianhe Wanbao.

According to The Straits Times, the two had sex more than once. When the parents found out about their relationship, they complained to the school immediately.

The teacher is said to have left the school in March 2012 after the incident came to light. When the Chinese daily asked the school whether the teacher left on her own or was sacked, the school replied via email that it will provide an answer within three days.

The police have confirmed that they have received a report and are currently conducting investigations.

Since the boy was underaged when the incident occurred, the identities of the student and the teacher, as well as the name of the school, cannot be revealed.

When contacted, the principal of the secondary school refused to confirm whether the teacher is still with the school, saying “I have not received any notice from the police regarding the case,” reported Lianhe Wanbao.

A spokesperson from the Ministry of Education said it will work with the school and the police in ongoing investigations.
And of course, this is on top of numerous itsy bitsy sex stuff like the Ferrari Driver car crash, which was posted here earlier and the "pub hostess" in his car..... speeding at more than 90km/hr at 4am, and driving towards the hourly hotels direction......

Or how the new gambling resorts at Marina Bay Sands and Sentosa resort is now being.... utilised as part of the illegal sex trade.....

Oh. And Singapore is still on the international shitlist for human trafficking due to the sex trade, which our ministers promptly protested to Hilary Clinton.

Its NSFW, but I love how the blogosphere reaction to the earlier corruption news in february was to point out that this shows that Singapore anti-graft efforts is obviously not working well enough. Our policy to prevent graft is to pay our civil servants very well, to the extent that the Prime Minister earns millions of dollars, orders of magnitude more than the US President. Since our officials and other members of the public are now being gratified by sex as opposed to dollars, the obvious solution is to offer more sex and sleaze:D

Oh yeah, I had a good laugh at that oracle one.

I suppose that is the logical solution - you simply have to meet everyone's hierachy of needs and problem solved!

I can't really think of anything else to say, except to ask you to comment on Lim Guan Eng, Rainbows and Chua Soi Lek, and the hypocrisy thereoff :P

I'm waiting for a "I did not have sex with that woman" from Lim:D

Or did one such statement pop out already?

Also.... I think I never did watch Chua Soi Lek sex video... But it did mean I'm never going to stay in Malaysia for a honeymoon:D:D:D

Beside. That Seventeen covergirl winner as well as that Pakistani dude with his swingers in Malaysia was like so much hotter! And for hypocrisy, nothing is going to top that Muslim minister and his son wild drinking/sex parties, although I think US citizens are going to be a bit blase about that:D

It seems to have dropped off the news since then so I have no idea if they confirmed anything. But the time when LGE had a really obvious head injury supposedly caused by his wife and fellow MP Betty Chew throwing something at him was pretty hilarious.

Pakistani dude, whould that be that one from sunway<something>scandals.blogspot ?

I'm pretty sure there's a pic of najib drinking somewhere.

Still waiting on the French Scorpene investigation to break and whatnot.

Seriously though, the more I see the choices the more I wish the British came up with proportional voting for themselves and thier colonies instead of this FPTP bullshit. That way we wouldn't be hobbled by the need to vote tactically to avoid shooting oneself in the foot multiple times by mistake.*

*I assume you are familiar enough that I don't really need to explain in detail unless someone else asks. Just curious, do you have relatives over here? How familiar are you personally with Malaysia? For my part, I just go to Singapore to bask in the giant Kinokuniya in Taka and bitch about how dollar to dollar you guys are better off :P

Guess those forums don't include the likes of Malaysiakini and those up north. Scorpene is the French sub deal that has Najib implicated on bribes/commissions/kickbacks. Which ties in with that Mongolian model who got blown up (she apparently was an interpreter/translator on that deal.) The French are investigating on their end because corruption of foreign bureaucrats is a criminal offence (due to some anti-corruption thing signed by OECD countries).

I know this is old news, but an update on even MORE sex scandals to start off the new year.

http://sg.news.yahoo.com/speaker-of-par ... 05126.html
Speaker of Parliament and Member of Parliament Michael Palmer has resigned from both posts due to an "improper relationship" with a People's Association (PA) staff member in his constituency.
ANOTHER resignation, this time from the ruling party due to "improper conduct", otherwise known as hiding the sausage in another PARTY member....Men..... I should get fucking involved in politics.

Also of note, the ruling government held and completed an election promptly two months later, despite the pressures of tax collection and various holidays affecting the civil service *cough cough*

http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp ... spore.html

Not going to quote, but essentially, a NUS scholar from Malaysia decides to post full scale sex videos of him and his girlfriend online as a sort of statement about sexual liberty in conservative asia.

Now, last but not least...
http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp ... t_mbs.html
A Japanese adult video (AV) production house was reported to have filmed a pornographic film -- starring actress Aoki Misora -- at various locations across Singapore, including the Marina Bay Sands (MBS) hotel.

According to a report on Chinese newspaper Lianhe Wanbao, the 160-minute film tells of a Japanese couple, with Misora being one half of it, staying at the hotel while on a vacation in Singapore.

In the film, they can be seen taking a dip in the swimming pool at the Sands SkyPark.

The reel-life couple was also filmed touring around Singapore and visiting places such as Bugis, Shenton Way and Chinatown and savouring local Chinese delicacies such as Hainanese chicken rice.

These scenes are punctuated by the couple engaging in sexual romps inside what appears to be a hotel room at the Marina Bay Sands.
WOOT! Further proof that Marina Bay Sands is increasingly a new hub of sex and villany...

Not really a sex scandal and frankly, I seen portions of the video. Its.... way more decent than any of their other films filmed overseas.

This is the obvious trend of oligarchic power being transferred from the material to the immaterial - sexual hierarchy and other forms of domination. Paying civil servants a lot to make them feel like oligarchs actually makes them feel like oligarchs. In the end they want to find other venues to demonstrate their superior position, like sex.

It's hardly limited to the upper class either; it's just more newsworthy (and discovered since nobody cares how many proles do the same thing).

40 yo is not a flexible young girl though. And yes of course sexseeking is not limited to the upper class; I mainly commented on the "public servant abuses clients demanding sex" incident. This is clearly a case of getting immaterial benefits from your position rather than just seeking sex, which one could easily accomplish by calling a hooker.

Actually....... That case turned out to be way more complex than originally thought.

Ground rules first: Its not unknown for sexual gratification to be used to win clients in this manner. Not in Asia definitely.
However, what the lady claimed was that the act was voluntary and that they essentially had an affair...... something supported by the relatively low value of the contract involved.
A stink was raised in court when the lawyer questioned the witness why it took 11 hours to interview Ms Sue, why the witness changed her statement after hours of interview in CPIB and the later contradictory statements made in court.........

http://news.asiaone.com/News/Latest%2BN ... 754/2.html

At this point, its up in the air exactly what did happen here, but my guess would be that they did felt an attraction and the guy decided to throw a few bones her way because..........
Well. The verdict is due tomorrow so.........

And the verdict is out.
http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/ ... 21/1/.html
SINGAPORE: Former Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) chief Ng Boon Gay is not guilty of corruption in a high-profile sex-for-contracts court case.

The verdict was handed down by District Judge Siva Shanmugam on Thursday afternoon.

He gave Mr Ng an acquittal amounting to a discharge, saying there was no corrupt element involved.

The judge added that Mr Ng did not have an ulterior or corrupt motive, and that the four counts of oral sex occurred in the context of his relationship with Ms Cecilia Sue.

He also said he had no reason to believe that Ms Sue's offer of oral sex was intended as an act of inducement.

He added that he did not find Ms Sue "as someone who could easily be taken advantage of".

The judge said the intentions of Ms Sue and Mr Ng were "innocuous".

The prosecution, he said, failed to prove its case.

The judge also found that Ms Sue was not credible as a witness.

He said her explanations on inconsistencies in her statements to the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) and evidence in court were inadequate and unconvincing.

Judge Shanmugam found Mr Ng's evidence to be consistent and credible.

Mr Ng, 46, was visibly relieved with the verdict.

After the verdict was read, Mr Ng's wife, Mdm Yap Yen Yen, broke into tears, while some in the public gallery clapped.

Mr Ng's lawyer, Mr Tan Chee Meng, told reporters that they are extremely happy with the outcome.

Mr Tan said: "It's something that we were hoping for. What's most important is that this verdict is a vindication of Ng Boon Gay. The fact that he is not corrupt and his innocence has been proven. They have been through a tough year. There are internal proceedings that is happening which would have to be dealt with. And I think Boon Gay has asked me to express his heartfelt thanks to friends, families and even strangers along the road who gave him support."

He added: "It's very nice to get acquitted on Valentine's Day."

The Attorney-General's Chambers will review the grounds for the judge's decision before deciding on whether it will or will not appeal against the ruling.

He was charged in June last year with four counts of obtaining sexual favours from Ms Sue, who was a sales manager for two IT vendors.

Mr Ng allegedly breached the Prevention of Corruption Act by engaging in sexual acts with Ms Sue on four occasions, between June and December in 2011.

Ms Sue, 36, was the sales manager of Hitachi Data Systems from June to November 2011.

She joined Oracle Corporation Singapore in December in 2011 as its senior sales manager.

Nr Ng was accused of furthering the business interests of the two IT companies in their dealings with CNB in exchange for sexual favours from Ms Sue.

After a closely-watched trial, both the prosecution and defence made their closing arguments late last month.
lol. Very nice to get acquited on Valentine Day. Right.....

So, you're not guilty of corruption, just guilty of adultery. Twice! Valentine:D The sheer irony is delicious
