yah. american asians =/= british asians.

Asian / paki = sub-continent
Oriental / chinese = far east
middle eastener = middle east (not a common minority compared to the other two)

When I (and I would imagine most Americans, but I'm not sure) hear "Asian" I think "Sinosphere" and possibly Indochina, while everyone from the subcontinent are "Indian" (and Hindu, with maybe some Buddhists).

But anyway back to what I was getting at was.

In this case, that means Indian/Pakistani and, by definition, Muslim.

Most of the people they are appealing to see no difference between India and Pakistan and think they are almost all Muslim.

I had a conversation with my mother once about the whole Hindu/Muslim/Sikh situation and was appalled to find out that she didn't think there was a difference between the three.
