1) How does parrying work in this game?
2) How does the slice-to-heal thing work?
I only have the demo so the full game might be a little different

1) Parrying works by hitting the light attack button while tilting the directional stick in the correct direction. The icons for the parry will pop up on screen (not sure if this is part of the actual game or the tutorial thing) It's rather hard for a noob like me and had my ass handed to me several times while fighting the demo's boss :D

2)The slice-to-heal thing works by having you slice through the enemy at a certain location on their body (highlighted in red box during your blade mode). When you are successful, you get treated to a short cinematic move in which Raiden rips out what looks like a glowing spine from the enemy you just diced into confetti. Doing so (partially at higher difficulties?) restores your health and recharges your blade mode meter.

THE MEMES!
I don't know if you care about music but the same's soundtrack is aces - the boss themes switch from instrumentals to full lyrics when they're in the final stage and you know shit is going down.
Oh shit yes. One of my favourite moments in the game is in the first level when you parry the boss's sword and the vocals kick in. My only wish is if the game could use the Kinect's voice sensor and let you activate Ripper mode by screaming RULES OF NATURE! at it.

Oh man. The parrying system is not explained at all well in the game. I had to find a video showing how to use it properly, because you get told basic tips on combat while actually slicing 'n' dicing.

So it took me forever to do anything against the first Gekko/Irving encounter and then Blade Wolf. After I figured it out, I managed them with grade B results at least.

And yes, while the instrumental scores of MGS are great, I do like the rock and metal sounds of MGR:R, especially when you start pwnage and the vocals kick in.

Did you skip the tutorial or something?

The game has an excellent sense of timing. Like Blade Wolf shaking his head and closing his visor when Raiden drives straight at the AT missile in Denver.
What is Project Zohar?

Here's to a certain mostly harmless nutcase.

The in-game tutorial is easy to gloss over since you're actually fighting. Going into the VR missions manually was what I had to do, and even then it was better watching someone else online.

Having just beaten the game in the last fifteen minutes, I agree. The final boss fight is also fucking insane.

I'm contemplating getting the album to the game. I normally prefer HGW's work on the previous games, but the vocal tracks when you're kicking arse are probably good motivators for playing with other games.
