Few hours ago was twitter posts by classmates and a youtube video of a family calling for one of them to come home don't match the names being released now. Don't see how legal permanent residents can get aliases and go to school with those names.

Though if the FBI is saying it, then I guess we can take that claim at face value, but still. We all know what a mess those early reports are, when media are leaping over each other trying to be FIRST with SHOCKING NEW DEVELOPMENTS.

The official information from the most recent news conference by actual authorites (as opposed to reporters) is that they are brothers, one was born in Kirghistan, one in Russia, of Chechnyan descent who have spent some time in Turkey. They are long-term US residents and here legally. 19 and 20 years old.

The family is being visited by the FBI, officially to see if more information can be obtained regarding motive.

I not entirely clear on what you're referring to, but in the US people with names that Americans in general find difficult to pronounce frequently adopt another name to use in daily interactions. Provided no fraud is intended it is entirely legal to use an alias in daily life. Typically, in such situations, all legal documents and things like paychecks will have the legal name but more informal situations the alias will be used.

I'd say not at all. The sooner we belittle these fucktards and what they did the better. Frankly the coverage of this event has been ridiculously overdrawn in the media. People acting like it's 9/11 all over again need to get over themselves. While nasty, the attacks are no worse than a bad bus accident. I remember an incident when a tourist bus overturned in New York a while back killing many and maiming many others in a horrific fashion with multiple decapitations involved. Did we stop driving? No. Did it lead to harsh new regulations and a reduction of civil liberties? No. Will the events in Boston lead to a clamp down? Probably. Attacks like this one in Boston should be considered the cost of doing business in the modern world. Occasionally some asshole is going to blow something up despite your best efforts.

While you are right in terms of the death toll, I would not equate a running gunfight with grenades and fatalaties through cities and neighborhoods in pursut of those who wounded almost 200 people equal to a bus accident. To do so is downright idiotic actually.

They had a car chase early this morning, killed an MIT officer and apparently were lobbing home made grenades. One brother is confirmed dead the other is who knows where...

Well, correct me if I am wrong but I hadn't seen any references to race in this thread until Straha mentioned it. He wasn't even responding directly to a specific idiot, either in this thread or in the media, which is why I decried it as not relevant. Either way, I don't particularly care, I'm not exactly up in arms over it, just from my perspective reading the thread it was really out of place.
